Too Jaded to do a "Real" Post...
For over 20 years I have struggled to "make it" as an artist/musician.
Sure, I sometimes make a sale, but it is always a sale that barely covers the cost of making the painting. Usually $60-$200 about once to twice a year. That is $400 a year at best most of which goes to making more artwork.
Doing Tarot on the street feeds me and that is about it.
Yet, I see artists all over the place, who paint the "old way" (usually some kind of "post-impressionism"), paint the same stuff we have all seen a billion times before sell their work for $5000 or more. This is something I must bear witness to whenever I enter an art showing. Good thing I never pay to enter these showings, or I would be in a negative number for sure. I don't get how these other artists do it. Do they play the sympathy card or something? I don't even do that "begging" for money on the street.
I am currently homeless and have 2 of my original works on me that I must sell before they get ruined. One piece is my most valuable piece and is onArtopium for over $3000. I was offered $40 for this piece two days ago. The customer never returned.
Good chance I will just give these paintings away. They are too much of a burden to care for in my current state. Selling them on the street does no good. Promoting them online does no good. In my experience, nothing concerning art/music ever does any good. It is good if you don't mind living off of less than $200 a year.
Whatever. Please, God, come destroy my artwork, I know you want to. Do it. Prove to me how much you really care. Take more from me. Make my life being homeless easier if you really care about me. Toting this suitcase full of crap isn't worth the energy expenditure.
I am ok. Just "jaded".

PS: I gave my most valuable book to the local library just so it wouldn't be ruined. Can you believe they were unable to give me any money for it?? Are all of their other books there by donation as well?
PSS: I hope by living this stupid, unfair life that I don't have to reincarnate into this hellhole again. I haven't found anything here. It isn't even worth being here to get laid because that doesn't ever happen, either.
PSSS: Gift me more LSD so I don't throw myself from a cliff. I could probably use a month's worth of microdosing.

One trick you could try, (it will cost you some money initially but in your current condition I think it will work better then selling original art, because original art is heavy to carry around, gets destroyed by water/wind etc etc).
Take good well-lit photos of your originals/art, then print like a whole bunch of versions of the photos in a local "Kodachrome-photoshop", put the prints in an "easy to cary weather resistant portfolio" and sell the prints for "cheap".
It will be easier to sell them like that then to sell originals off of the street, you can do both also, like 5 dollars for a print and 500 dollars for the original...
(Or just try and store your original-art somewhere safe, like in a friends or relatives garage whilst you are on the road).

I just really want to sell the two I have on me so I won't have to bear the burden. I intend to do prints sometime. The only thing that has stopped me is that all the images are from an older, low-res camera and the print doesn't come out looking so hot. I will like to photograph everything again in the proper lighting, without glare, with hi-res so my prints won't look like poo. :) Thanks for sharing, though. It makes one feel good. I sold my excess crystals today and made $40 doing Tarot, after putting a "bad" energy into the Universe. Take that, LOA. :p

Its always easier to sell cheap "things" in the street, (kind of like begging but with some more dignity). I was thinking maybe making "photo magnets" out of original art, could be a smart move.
Specially tourists love magnets/souvenirs and they also want something more genuine then the standard boring turist stuff... Walmart has an option for "designing photo magnets":

This is a great idea. I thought about making orgonites and selling them. I might actually do this once the two paintings are gone and I don't have to worry about them anymore. One did get some water damage last night, as my suitcase was vandalized by people who assumed I was some "tourist" who "left trash on the ground". I am going to find this "person" today and make them pay for the damage. ;) Thanks for all the tidbits.

(Not sure about orgonite, I did buy a large piece once, full of copper-wire and gold, cristals and god knows what other metal shards, and well I tried to take it through customs in my "check in luggage", and I think they must have gotten really suspicious, because I found it all broken up when I got off the plane and unpacked my suitcase... If they broke it, I don't blame them those things must look really suspicious on the x-ray)...

Damn. That does make sense to me, though. I used to work for TSA and yes, orgonite would look like an incomplete bomb on the X-Ray. Sorry to hear it.
Yeah, that is probably true... I also wonder how well these pieces of orgonite work... I do have some faith in Wilhelm Reich and his initial theories, but I am not a 100% sure about orgonite...

You're right. People don't buy fine art on the sidewalk. But by getting yourself out there and sticking to a theme you can make a name for yourself that might get you into a gallery or further. Just look at Basquiat

I have seen people sell/buy fine art and prints off the street, the people who made the most sales / steady cash flow/"sustainable business", was the people selling prints and some originals and also showing some showmanship like having a funny display/"art-cart" or making art live to get attention. Etc.
