Tilting (Original)

I can't help but tilt
At these windmills in my head
With a slow retreat.
Have I been fighting
Romantically, though in vain
Against the unknown?
My weapon leveled,
Is this all I've ever known,
These thoughts of battle?
To defeat the mind
The endless ringing metal
The complication.
My impossible
Enduring, everlasting
Last task on this earth.
Should you never end
So that I may always lean
Tilting at windmills.

I let a bird out of my head
And found that my hate had taken flight
Like a love let go to one day return.
Long I stared at the starry sky
Counting all the countless connections
Until I felt connected to them all.

Tilting my head I make new shapes
Constellations never seen before
My own private universe to explore.
Among the hunters and heroes
A windmill to dress the southern sky
And a place for me to forever watch

love is a battle, and we usually don't have a clear understanding of who our opponent actually is

Love this stanza, it resonated very deeply with me. The path I follow, we believe we come here from the stars. Thank you for this beautiful poem! Aho
I'm so glad this resonated with you. I also believe we are from the stars :)
