A Cosmological Existence (Poetry Slam 12)
Orenda
A cosmological existence
Confined to a single word
Eyes strain to count constellations
Moons past as time elapsed
Ancients align themselves in the sky
Stars tell the story of Adversity
Rocks and boulders tremble
Waters swirl
Tides ebb and flow
Plants and trees
Flowers and bees
Look up and sing to the sky
Winds blow and storms collide
Thunder bellows and lightning cracks
But nowhere to hide
A wolf howls
As the moon comes out from behind the clouds
The mountains echo with sounds of
Waka Mahopa Xube
manifested in nature
With magical potence
A turtle floats across primordial seas
Shining on aboriginal countenance
Mountains and plains aglow
Bright sunlight burns the crops below
Shrieking sounds of nature calmed
By a gentle rain
Night carried with the wind
Owls hoot
Crickets chirp
The breeze blows through deerskin huts
Garbled Iroquois incantations
The Shaman surrender to Orenda
Wahonwaren dogenni
Roterennote
Orenda
Hoping wanting for the magical words
To put nature straight
The words to console the crying babe
In the wigwam abode
Words that give life
Words that give peace
Words of harmony
Words of nature’s king

This poem is written to express the Iroquois word Orenda meaning "nature" but in a spiritual sense. It is my submission for @scuzzy's poetry slam and day 80 in the 100 day poetry competition @d-pend.(Steemschool Discord) All pictures are public domain at Pixabay.
