Our body is designed to be awake when the sun is out and resting during night time. However, with factors present in this modern age we are divided by 2 categories: The early birds or the morning person and the night owls or the night person.
Here are 5 benefits of being a morning person:

1.Slimmer - You are slimmer!


Studies show that late sleepers and late risers eat more fast food than early risers. This adds up an average of 250 calories more a day for the late sleepers and risers. The morning person is able to catch the most important meal of the day, which is breakfast. Breakfast boosts up on your metabolism for the rest of the day. Another advantage of being a morning person is having more time to exercise.

2.Proactive


Morning persons have known to agree with statements that contain a go-getter mentality; this is according to Christoph Randler (Harvard Biologist). Morning people show a more proactive attitude when it comes to business success. They perform better in their jobs and are most likely to be entrusted by their employers. This is because they tend to show a more positive and energetic attitude throughout the day which easily applies for a promotion. Although night persons tend to be more creative, early birds have advance problem-solving skills. Morning persons are also believed to be leaders in their field.

3.Happy and Positive Attitude


While this hard to understand and translate, people who wake up early in the morning show a happier and positive attitude. They tend to be more optimistic and content with their lives. People who sleep late and wake up late are more likely to be anxious and have a negative perspective in life. Maybe this just shows that late sleepers tend to think more unpleasant thoughts at night.

4.Less Stressful Commute and safer drivers


Morning people have the luxury of time going to work without the stress of the rush hour pouring down on them. Waking up early and going to work earlier than most people can assure a less stress in your commute and helps you start the day right. Spanish researches also did an experiment on night owls driving at 8am in the morning; they most likely perform less than early birds who drive at ease and with caution.

5.Quiet Time for Reflection


The best thing morning people have is their own personal time. A time to reflect, meditate and pray before starting the day. Reflecting and having your own quiet time most likely reduces stress and anxieties you may encounter. It is always best to start the day with the right perspectives and goals.

Luckily we were not born to be early risers and late sleepers, although some studies say we are. There are 3 steps to change your body clock from a Late Sleeper to a Morning Person.

HOW TO DO IT?

1.Gradually change your time of waking up:

Set your alarm at an earlier time than usual. You may place it at a distance so snoozing it won’t be easy. Try your best to wake up at least an hour before you usually do. Take this gradually and eventually your body will follow.

2.Sleep Early:

This is the second step and not the first one. It is because late sleepers usually cannot commit in doing this without feeling the need to really fall asleep. So once you commit to waking up early then sleeping early will naturally follow.

3.Set a goal of things to do:

Set a goal to do first thing in the morning when you wake up. Do not just wake up and do nothing. Try to set an activity like exercising or watching the sun rise.
