At first glance, today's word appears to be magical in nature. On second thought, maybe it is!

Noun
Someone skilled in the art of cooking

ETYMOLOGY/ORIGIN:
("mágeiras-" cook)+("-ist" a follower of a distinctive practice)

PRONUNCIATION:
/ˌmædʒaɪrɪst/
LISTEN

SYNONYMS
Cook
Chef
Cuisinier

SCRABBLE SCORE:
11, but it is not a legitimate Scrabble word (but what do they know)

USAGE/EXAMPLES:

A magirist is an expert cook. The word is not related to magi or magic, but instead derives from the Greek mageiros, meaning chef, butcher, or sacrificer: in ancient Greece, the same person performed all those roles.
