The Wonderful World Of Words, 2/14/17

Love is now, is always. All that is missing is the coup de grâce — which is called passion.

--Clarice Lispector

DEFINITION:
Noun
A state of passionate, nearly obsessive romantic attraction

ETYMOLOGY/ORIGIN:
A very new word, if it is to be considered a "real" word at all. However, one must agree that it is a good word, legitimate or not.

From arbitrary first element +‎ -ence. Coined by Dorothy Tennov in her 1970's novel, 'Love and Limerence: The Experience of Being in Love', which is referenced below.

PRONUNCIATION:
lim-ê-rêns
Listen

SCRABBLE SCORE:
13, but Scrabble doesn't acknowledge it as legitimate. Does this mean it's a love child, perhaps?

USAGE/EXAMPLES:

"LIMERENCE" is an aspect of basic human nature, one significant to human reproduction, to conception, child care, family, productivity, even to the decisions that determine human history.

--Love and Limerence: The Experience of Being in Love
by Dorothy Tennov, 1979

We suspect that sex is part of limerence just to the extent that sexual dissatisfaction is part of the limerent person's sense of incompatibility with his or her unsatisfactory partner, or is part of an unattached person's limerent ideal.

--Compatible and Incompatible Relationships
by William Ickes, 2012

Here's to you and love! May you once again, or now if you are so lucky, experience the rush, the flush of young love that is LIMERENCE.

I "love" it! So apt for such a day ... Hoping that you do indeed find yourself in such an elixir. Namaste!

Thank you very kindly, @ebryans. Alas, my day was spent quietly with my dogs and cat thinking of all you lovely readers cuddled up to your sweethearts sipping wine and making memories. ~sigh~

And so, I believe I will plan ahead for the next Valentine's Day and give today's word a go.

Thank you for reading!

Dear Sir, to put it frankly, I am not making a success of the steemit lexicon. I have had a lot of moral and actual support from @kus-knee but the engagement is not there. Could you give me a frank assessment? If you think it an idea which is not for steemians/just not very good/poorly delivered etc, please say what you think. As a lover of the English language (and a jargon-phobic!) I am very ready for directness! Your input would be much appreciated.
