The Steemit Lexicon - a guide to understanding the language of steemia and steemians.
Do you ever come across something which crops up repeatedly in your life and there just is no word for it?
Or maybe it is something which you do … and there just is no verb which encapsulates the essence of that action.
The Steemit Lexicon is here to fill that gap for the inhabitants of the steemit community – it is a guide to language associated with life and experiences connected with the Platform.
This Lexicon will grow over time and it will assist you in expressing the full gamut of emotions, the full functionality and assist you in explaining the intricacies of what it is to be a steemian ... even to non-steemians.
I shall kick things off here with a few words and their definitions such that you can grasp the flavour of the Steemit Lexicon.
Clipperist. [ˈklɪp.ər.ɪst] (N.) A person who relies upon Google (et al.) to source content for their posts. Var. Clipperism. N. The practice of clipping for the purposes of producing a post and trying to get away with it.
Farceography. [fɑːsɒɡ.rə.fi] N. The use of bland and meaningless photographs with an insipid strapline to compose a post.
Flaggerbasted. [flæg·ərˌbæs·tɪd] (Adj.) Emotional state caused by the receipt of one or more flags or downvotes. Feeling flaggerbasted tends to be experienced when the recipient does not feel that the issue of a flag or downvote is warranted. Var. Flaggerbast (V. Trans.) is to issue a flag to an unsuspecting recipient; not to be confused with flagrant.
Flagrant. [flæɡrənt] V. Trans. The repetitive issue of unjustifiable flags. Var. Flagrance. N. [flæɡrɑːns]. Example: “his behaviour was nothing short of flagrance”.
Postelation. [pəʊst iˈleɪ.ʃən] N. Euphoria experienced when selected in a Guild’s top 10.
Posternity. [pəʊst ɜː.nə.ti] N. Period of time between submission of a post and the receipt of its first non-user generated vote.
Steemetrics. [stiːm. etrɪks] N. The science of metrics on the steemit platform, notably the interface between Steem Power, Reputation and Vote Value. Professors in steemetrics are rare and only appear during Forkmas.
Whale. [weɪl] N. Figure of high standing within the steemian community. See categories of whale below. Whales can be elusive and little is known about their habits as they have the capacity to hold their steem for up to 3 hours under water. Monitoring devices have yielded few results. Sycophantic behaviours tend to be counter-productive. Any complaints over krill rights will result in ostracisation.
Whale. [weɪl] V. Trans. The action of issuing a vote valued at over 5 steem. Example: “I got whaled today and then the votes rolled my way!” (See variations).
Being whaled has several levels:
Blue Whale
Right Whale
Sperm Whale
Humpback Whale
Example: “I got whaled today!” “Blued?” “No, just humpbacked but better than being minnowed!”
Witnesses on steemit are your assurance of confidence in the system.
When you vote for witnesses, think about someone less obvious:

@timcliff is a really good steemmate of mine, a very trustworthy and dependable guy who thinks for himself and for you. He is a seasoned developer who is always looking for better ways of doing things but is not one to gloss over obstacles – he solves them.

I have been thinking about this as I expand the lexicon. I believe that if this continues as a community idea, I could hold the completed lexicon and publish a monthly update so as not to appear vote-grabbing, not that the update would attract much attention anyway. New words are where the fun will be.
What do you think? Is that a socially responsible approach?
Great idea! Perhaps the odd contest to include the best new words! @papa-pepper and @onceuponatime are word connoisseurs! Just an example of who might chime in.
I think I even coined "steemicide" a few months back!

Loving the idea and great to have @papa-pepper on board. It would be cool to have one of our graphic art specialists come up with a logo/lexicon cover.
There were several other literary maestros that contributed to @onceuponatime's last contest. It would be nice if the could find their way here.
I shall get @rigaronib onto the case! Great idea ... I love it when an idea gathers its own momentum. Pushing kaka uphill is an inglorious occupation.

Thank you @nxtblg, much appreciated. I shall be augmenting the Lexicon - it is not an exclusive right though. @kus-knee is adding some definitions. Please feel free to join in. I told him that I used the Cambridge dictionary for the porte-manteau of phonetics so that we retain a consistent 'look'. Namaste!
