Creative Writing Challenge: Task #5: Lost Memories

in #writing7 years ago (edited)

Task #4 has offered us another great dose of entertainment!

Congratulations for all of you guys who did it! Congratulations for the ones who made an attempt, but couldn't make it.

It was another great exercise for your brains. I think you are now prepared for the next step.

And for the ones who still haven't done it - there are still few hours to submit the URL of your post as a comment under Creative Writing Challenge - Task #4. Of course, we'll be tolerant enough for those of you who miss the last second of the actual deadline.

Because every story counts guys.

Enough said. Let's move to the new challenge. Hopefully it will be challenging enough for you.

It's time for Task #5! :)

Creative Writing Challenge
NUMBER FIVE

Lost Memories

Take a look at the pictures below. You wouldn't believe it, but what you are seeing is something I have spotted on the street next to the rubbish container. Initially I just passed. I was astonished 'how one could throw his memories?' Then I was suddenly stricken by the idea... what if... then just got back, grabbed them and here they are.

It's not that I regularly examine rubbish containers. Just have in mind guys that I try you provide you with authentic sources of inspiration.

So:

Your task is to write a story that connects the two images.

Apply the retrospective approach to the story or surprise everyone with your own interpretation.

Again, no boundaries. The options you have are literally countless and you know that better than me.
The discovery of the images itself is already a real story and I won't be surprised if someday somebody will recognize his or her great grand parents in these photos here on Steemit.

Additional details:

  • Titles: Be creative and write an authentic title for your post.

  • Use of images: Using the same image would be fine. Anything else is optional.

  • Deadline: The deadline for this task is Monday, Aug 14 by Midnight.

  • Price pool: 10 SBD and still looking for sponsors.

Enjoy writing,
@steemfluencer

Thank you @negativer! Wow, I'm happy to see you really liked the task and this time most of the people finished their work far before the deadline.

Great backstory, and another good bit of fodder for our stories. And now...I must ponder where to go with this.

Thanks! It's another ocean of possibilities. Looking forward to reading your story @negativer .

Well done @tegoshei! Seems like you like you are the earliest bird again : )

Thank you! :) Seems like it @steemfluencer.. It might have something to do with the timezone? hihi ^^

This looks like a fun writing exercise. I have to put on my thinking cap! 🐓🐓

You are welcome : ) Would be curious to see your entry as well : )

I am a little surprised at your surprise.

Maybe it's just that I do regularly look in and around the bin, and one of the things you see all the time are old photographs of forgotten people.

A few friends of mine have a small publishing house called 'la discreta' and one of last years books was by one of them called David Torrejón, and his book was called "Escríbime una foto" (rough translation "Write me a photo")

I was about a writing teacher who used this task to set up his class.

Good book

I don't want to write this one much, but will do it anyway I think.

still doing too much
thanks for everything @steemfluencer

Wow! : ) I think I should change my habits when walking on the street..
So it's a nice exercise. Didn't know that writing teacher use the same one.

Oh, you're right about it. Last year a barrio from Caracas (precarious houses on dangerous places, pretty much) was affected during the rainy season. This barrio, el barrio Los Chaguaramos has it's entry under the highway (looks as if it was under a bridge) and it goes right next to a dirty river, the river had a flood and most of the houses were destroyed. When you go near the entrance, you can't see houses anymore, but the amount of old photographs and albums was huge and really really frightening.

that sounds amazing and fuerte fuerte.

you should get some photos

amazing image

Well done! Hopefully you'll stay with us for the next tasks as well.

I am learning the process. Have to check out part 6. Thanks for reading. 🐓🐓

I'll add it in the table with the entries for task #6 as soon as possible. Thanks for participating! :)

I've almost got Task 4 done, just need to proofread and do some formatting then I can move onto task 5!

This was a cool task and was fun to create a linking backstory to the 2 images. So here is my entry for task #5.

Thanks @flemingfarm! Would be curious to check your interpretation a bit later!

I have done it, but maybe different treatment than you were expecting. Certainly different than I was expecting.

young Holden Caulfield maybe

big hugs

Ha, I liked this. That's definitely one way to solve the problem and subject matter. Way out in left field, but I admit my mind went through some of those same non-verbal gymnastics as was conveyed in your story.

yes, without a doubt, I couldn't stop it, so just sat to write it and out that popped.

I am doing this without almost any self-editing, as you have probably noticed.

lol
