Writer's Block

in #writing6 years ago (edited)

People often get exhausted trying to catch up with life. Stress is building up inside day by day until it's no longer bearable and you just collapse. However it is not about volume of work; it's all about one's mental attributes. Probably a rather unpleasant statement as it puts the responsibility on the person suffering from it. It's certainly easier to blame anything and everything else.

Same goes for writers (at least those of them that are human). Expectation can be a great motivator and will push the individual to the limits, providing room for growth in a continuous pursuit of success; the accomplishment of one's goals. But this is also why expectation can be a pain in the arse: people might find it extremely hard to get what they truly desire.

Stress is always related to work. But work that is being rewarded accordingly is a lot more enjoyable and definitely less stressful; if people don't work to live but live to work, then life is much more fun. To be fair, stress is mainly caused by uncertainty of the future. The difference between people is how they react to stressful situations; how they handle pressure.

Same goes for writers (at least those of them that post on Steemit). Not everyone is willing to sacrifice and make an effort. Most people get discouraged after a short period of receiving no support at all and give up. It's not desperation though; it's stress that's actually driving them as they feel like time is running out and their needs are not being fulfilled whatsoever. It is the constant need for success and abundance that adds a lot of pressure to an undervalued writer's mind.

They don't all have the same needs however. Some of them are looking for engagement and attention, while others are more interested in receiving rewards and making green. Some writers just want to be admired and respected and others are just addicted to writing and posting their thoughts. There are also people looking to attract the opposite sex or establish all sorts of relations with folks all over the world. Writers and their needs. And these needs can create a lot of unwanted pressure which could lead to depression.

It's always up to the individual. Stress will always be part of life as long as one has goals and aspirations so we have to learn to thrive under it. It is a skill that could be obtained through practice and hard work, but it would demand discomfort and pain; people will always do anything to avoid those two. Are you willing to do it? Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone and learn to withstand heavy pressure? That's what makes champions.

Persistence is key. Minding your own business is crucial. Believing in yourself is essential.

I've mentioned before how Steemit writers should be focused on learning instead of just earning. This is of course my humble point of view, but I really do believe that when you actually do something out of love and passion, you will definitely be succesful. To the contrary, I think that writing in order to get rewarded will affect your writing. It will lead you to places you wouldn't ever decide to take your readers. It will probably be too obvious in your writings.

Life rewards those who do what they truly love and so does the Steemit community. Life also rewards those who live their lives without a care in the world. That's how you should be writing on Steemit. Don't ever care about what they want to hear; say what you truly mean. That's what makes a dope writer as far as I'm concerned. Not only do they not follow rules but they also need to break them occasionally.

Thank you for your attention!

Excellent articulation! This is a great post:) All writers deal with this, I know from experience.

Thanks for reading :)

Absolutely. Looking for a way out of my writer's block currently. But I'm a manic/depressive writer, so I've got other issues to deal with:)

I'm sure you'll find a way to turn this around.

A writer dont think what will be result. he write that is his mind

I totally agree with you!

I was discouraged a bit and got writers block two days ago. I started watching other platforms and came right back to Steemit. I love it here. Yesterday I began posting with no expectations. I really feel better. Great post. Joy
