The causes are diverse, since we are emotional beings in our totality but, in any case, emotional intoxication is the consequence of not giving us a daily time to cultivate our interior.

What behaviors give the clue that I suffer from emotional intoxication?

It is likely that you are under the effects of emotional intoxication and have not yet noticed. Therefore, what must be done is pay special attention to behaviors that are unpleasant and that, despite this, we carry out.

We often maintain attitudes that cloud our perception and deteriorate us significantly. There are 5 different behaviors that a person maintains when he is intoxicated, let's see them below:

1. Be constantly on the defensive

A person who suffers emotional intoxication is in self-protection mode and constantly misinterprets the actions or words of others as attacks. In fact, just pay attention to certain words.

If you feel you are intoxicated, you have probably realized that your insecurities have surfaced and direct your life. You become more reactive and defensive frequently. Your self-esteem is completely diminished and you feel vulnerable to any event.

Your emotions cause you to block and selectively attend to the negative or what you think affects you directly. This causes you to frequently twist the words or acts of others towards you, reacting aggressively to protect yourself from possible harm that your emotions make you believe probable but which will surely only be in your mind.

 2. Being overly critical

 It is difficult to deal with a person when he is intoxicated, especially because the barrier of intransigence is self-imposed. They do not pass one, not even themselves.

If you feel that you are intoxicated, it is probably that, in your eagerness to have it controlled, you are too demanding with yourself and do not grant yourself even a minimum margin of action. Try to be more benevolent with yourself and with others.

             

3. Feel dull or put before us a stone wall

There are times when people realize that we are full of emotion and choose to close the curtains and protect ourselves from our own feelings. This is why, when a person is overwhelmed by their emotions, somehow their vitality faints and they are out.

4. Convict others constantly, insulting or disparaging

Due to emotional blockage, they do not respond clearly nor are they able to assess sensibly those around them. In addition, they find it difficult to feel empathy for others, given that they are invaded by emotions that condemn their feelings.

In fact, if you are intoxicated, you may condemn yourself and blame yourself, projecting your fears and frustrations on others as a way of escape and liberation.

5. Impede our progress

Walking through life can be difficult for a person intoxicated by their emotions, but it is even more complicated to consider moving forward or not boycotting their progress or the achievement of their goals. The only way to overcome this desire for personal suicide is by making us aware that there is a possibility that there is something inside us that fuels the fear of achieving our goals.

Fear of our achievements has a lot to do with our inability to tolerate uncertainty. We are sick of certainty because we do not trust our ability to face whatever comes.
