WordPress Steem

Hello guys!

It's been 3 days from the release of my newest project called WordPress Steem. I'm glad that a few people here in Steem have found it useful for them to use it. I'm currently on standby waiting for reviews from actual users of the plugin and I've found some insightful feedback from the on which I'm so grateful. You might asked, why is that? I helps me improve the plugin's overall experience specially on the UX (User Experience) part.

I have received a very thorough feedback from @juanmiguelsalas on which he posted about his experience of the plugin and left valid points on its UX (User Experience). He pointed out the editor for "Markdown" tab and "Markdown" editor. (I'll elaborate on these below) I have definitely forgot to explain this part of the plugin and I've realized that I should have a tutorial about it. (I will be having a formal tutorial soon.) Thanks again @juanmiguelsalas :)

Another user @patriciakm was able to give her feedback regarding about an image issue on her WordPress post that was not reflected on her Steem post. (Please see below for possible troubleshoot actions.)

Here's the actual tips and tricks stated below.

"Markdown" tab

It's use case was that, if the user wants to fully create a different content for "Steem" to post, they would use the "Markdown" editor.

"Text" or "Visual" tab

If you did not checked "Use this content for Steem post body to appear on Steem blockchain." then it will use the content inside the "Text" or "Visual" editor. It will automatically convert it to Markdown format.

So there are 2 options to post your WordPress post in Steem blockchain. Either you use "Markdown" editor to completely create a unique formatting for your Steem post or just simply use "Text" or "Visual" editor to base the content for your Steem post.

Tips

  • If you want to just use "Text" or "Visual" editor for your Steem post content, please make sure to UNCHECK the field for "Use this content for Steem post body to appear on Steem blockchain." under "Markdown" tab.
  • If you want to completely use a different content for your Steem post, please CHECK the field for "Use this content for Steem post body to appear on Steem blockchain." under "Markdown" tab and place your post content on "Markdown" editor for it to reflect on your Steem post
  • Please don't forget checking the "Publish on Steem blockchain" or "Update on Steem blockchain" to reflect your changes
  • Missing content or images? Please make sure to check "Update on Steem blockchain" field so that it will reflect on your Steem post. (Worst case is that the HTML to Markdown parser has some errors, if so, can you please comment for your Steem post link so I can troubleshoot directly.)

I really hope it will clarify some features of the plugin for WordPress Steem. Please don't hesitate to comment your questions below as I'll be happy to answer them as thoroughly as possible. I would really love your feedback. :)

A great effort. I've been looking for something to automagically publish Wordpress posts on Steem. Had nearly decided to start developing it myself, although that would mean brushing off the Ol' Programming Skills ;-)

You may be interested to join me in what I'm setting up. I've been maintaining an event website for a couple of months now, currently focusing on events in Spain. Ideally when an events is added it is also published on other social networks (FB, Twittert, and of course Steem).
FB and Twitter are already working, loads of plugins available for that, but you're plugin does not work yet.

Since an event is not a "normal" post type, there would be some tweaking required for this combination to work.

I'm thinking that we can have the community contribute events, translations and reviews via the main site, which are than automatically published on Steem as well.

When that's working there are some exciting next steps to take, but we can discuss these offline if you're interested.

Greetings and thanks for your work.
Ray.

Thanks. Ahh, I see. That's cool. :)

Yes, it currently only supports for "post" post type for WordPress but it will eventually be supported on the next version of this plugin very soon as I'm currently planning it out. The reason behind is that, some plugins used custom post type with the logic on their plugin and may contain sensitive information on which that could be damaging for the website owners. I already have some plans to implement it that will be secure and reasonable for the users.

Yes, that could work. :)

Thanks for your interest! Greatly appreciate it. :)

If you like we could join forces for the event site. I have plenty of ideas where I want it to go, and how, but it's always daunting doing everything alone.

Your knowledge of Wordpress and Steem would really help to make this grow and be a huge success.

Let me know, we can continue this via another channel, I don't think public comments are the best way in this case ;-)

BTW, in your plugin the description reads: Accept Steem payments directly to your shop (Currencies: STEEM, SBD).
This is from another of your plugins, you may want to change this.

Thanks for that. I didn't noticed that it was not changed. I'll update the plugin description soon.

Yes, sure. You can contact me at https://steemit.chat/ with the same handle (recrypto). :)

Interesting. I've recently started using another plugin: https://steemit.com/steemit/@valderrama/i-ve-edited-my-own-website-to-verify-my-identity

I will look into yours for sure. What i would really like is a post import from Steemit to Wordpress instead of just a feed though...

Hello @valderrama. That's cool. I think the plugin pulls Steem post feed. I'd consider your recommendation for an import tool from Steem to WordPress but I would not be able to give a definite release on this feature. But hopefully so. :)

Please let me know your thoughts if you are able to use the plugin as I'll be happy to assist you with it. :)

Dear @recrypto,
I installed it late yesterday night here... And i am thrilled to bits with it.
This was my first post in my Wordpress relayed almost magically to my steemit blog :-) within a few minutes>

PS: I had been looking for a strategy to ease my post sharing tasks. I searched around steemit for possible solutions, found your plug-in and immediately decided I had to revive my dormant Wordpress site and test your plugin.
Problem solved, I post in my wordpress and choose to send or not to my @patriciakm blog. Perfect... bravo et merci
Technically, I didn't manage so well. I might have missed a tweak somewhere. My second wordpress post displayed an image but it did not display on my steemit blog post.
I couldn't find a way to append the image as an edit in steemit text editor :-(

PS2: I was hoping you might have a steemit social share plugin I could add to my wordpress as well? ;-)

Hello @patriciakm, that's great to hear that you find it useful. :)

Answer on your first PS:
As for the Steem post without the image, can you please share the link so I can check it. By the way, please make sure to "Check" the field with "Update on Steem blockchain" field so that your Steem post will be updated.

Answer to your second PS:
I will consider your idea about it but I'm not sure with a definite timeline of the release. So to clarify, you want a share button on your WordPress when clicked, the user will be able to share the "WordPress Post" to Steem blockchain? Is that what you meant?

Thanks so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. This would really be helpful on improving the overall plugin usage and performance. :)

Dear @recrypto, thrilled that I can contribute, thank you for your work and dedication.

In Tassie, it is Tuesday 01:22 am, it's been a long screen day. First thing when I wake hopefully fresher later on today, I will first retest the WP post by checking option "update on steem blockchain", and let you know the outcome.

My second PS:
I am giggling as I write... check out the bad trick button link I came up with in the mean time... my testing... testing... self ;-)

Good night from Tassie.
to be contd

Thanks so much for taking time testing and giving your feedback! @patriciakm :D

Thanks for creating the plugin and the effort! I have just installed it on my blog. However it always show the message "Please be reminded that there is a 5 minute cooldown when creating a Steem post in the Steem blockchain."

I have reconfigured the plugin settings and verified the account name and private key. Still the same. Please help!!

I have same problem with this plugin :(

It seems that integrating the steemconnect login is the missing critical component to allow for upvoting from within wordpress itself. I think once this is accomplished then steemit might see less action than it does now and maybe this is why it hasn't been done like this. I had at one time integrated several different login methods using the facebook and twitter api and instagram also before so I should be able to figure this out at some point I just have not had the time to sit down and do it and it has been several years ago so my memory isn't fresh on the subject.. I'll try to start working on this if someone hasn't already accomplished it. I would love to see this as part of your plugin if it isn't already. Login like at Dtube and the content gets published both places... It is brilliant if you can do it. I'll try to look at your plugin code tomorrow and try to look at my old website code and jog my memory as how I did it. Thanks for working on this.

Thanks for this plugin, sadly I cannot seem to get it to work properly, I might be doing something wrong.
At the moment, no matter what I do, I end up with the "Please wait for 300 seconds to be able to publish this post to the Steem blockchain as there is a 5 minute cooldown." error, even after waiting a full hour.
in the right hand menu this "300 seconds left to do another post action." stays on 300 aswell and simply does not countdown or leave at any time.

As for a possible enhancement on this plugin, I'd love it if it had a "publish old posts" option in which you could specify a schedule or timeframe in which the older posts get auto published to Steemit.
This would greatly improve the value of this plugin to already well established larger wordpress blogs.

I have had the same exact problem as described above. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly for your time and consideration.

I've just installed it on the latest version of WP (4.9). I get this error I've seen other people are having:

Please be reminded that there is a 5 minute cooldown when creating a Steem post in the Steem blockchain.
300 seconds left to do another post action.

I'm trying to repost my older posts first, I haven't tried with a new post. Is this a compatibility issue with 4.9?

It didn't work for me too :(

same problem here

This looks promising and so I immediately installed the plugin on my blog. Unfortunately, I have yet to get it to work despite having followed the instructions in configuring it.
