Let's get started !!!

@jamesmovic - Who introduced you to steemit and what was your motive for joining?

@themarkymark - I was asked this when I was on the Music and Money show and I don’t remember to be honest. I believe it was when I was in a crypto mining community and it was mentioned. I joined because I was fascinated by it and it has taken a large part of my time since then.

@jamesmovic - How many times do you think its appropriate for a newbie to post per day?

@themarkymark - I recommend twice, as much as four times a day. The number isn’t important, what is important is the quality. We can only produce so much unique original quality content on a daily basis.

@jamesmovic - What communities are you supporting and how?

  • Community Casino
  • Steem Poker League
  • OP Gaming
  • STEEMUSA
  • BuildAWhale Curation
    *SteemCleaners
  • Friends of Gondor
  • Donation, Delegation, and word of mouth

@jamesmovic - Can you tell us why you decided to become a witness?

@themarkymark - I chose to be a witness really early when I got here. After a few days I knew I was going to invest a lot of time here.

My goal has always been to get a lot of Steem Power I own and make the place better than when I got here.

@jamesmovic - Can you tell us how your feel about it (witnessing) now?

@themarkymark - Being a witness is an interesting position. I think a lot of users believe witnesses have a lot more power than they do, and don’t fully understand what their responsibilities and capabilities are.

It is difficult to get support as a witness without spamming people for it. The best way to get support as a witness is to do great things and become known for something great. In the end it is a popularity contest where many of the votes are already spoken for.

@jamesmovic - What exactly does “voting for a witness” means to you,and do you think it is necessary for all steemians to vote?

@themarkymark - Although I believe witnesses have far less power than most people think, they are representatives of the community and are genereally involved in a lot of projects and critical discussions.

It is important to have witnesses who are active, passioniate, honest, and competent. Unfortunately witness voting doesn’t reflect this.

I get asked a lot about witness voting, and my typical response is something along the lines of:

Vote for someone who shares the same values as you and you believe will do good things for the community. If you are unable to do that, choose someone you trust that can and use them as a proxy.

@jamesmovic - What are your thoughts on the possibiltiy of there being a new “Steem 2”?

@themarkymark - STEEM is always evolving, sometimes not as fast as we like but it will be different in a year from now and even more different in five. I hope the progress is positive and efficient.

If you mean other platforms like EOS, I am all-in on STEEM and not something I have spent any time thinking about. I don’t know how much capacity I have to participiate at the level I expect across multiple platforms. I have given up Twitter and cut down how much time I spend on Reddit considerably. I rarely even look at Facebook.

@jamesmovic - Is there anything you would like to say on your own, without me asking the question?

@themarkymark - I am approaching my first year anniversary in a little over a month. The journey has been interesting and rewarding. I have met a lot of friends and learned a ton. I am looking forward to see where this goes and what it looks like in a year or two.

@jamesmovic - Any advice you would wish to give to my fellow steemians[ newbies] who are feeling dejected one way or the other due to low upvotes?

@themarkymark - I wrote about this a long time ago and it’s far too long to include here. You can find the post here.

In short, consistency is important. I am no writer, and in fact I hate blogging. When I got here, I made a commitment to post every day at least once. I rarely miss a day.

I also wrote a post You are not entitled to an audience, you need to earn it! that I think is a good read for every new STEEM user.

@jamesmovic - What impression do you have about this interview and what do you feel about it?

@themarkymark - It was fun, I like live voice interviews personally but was happy to answer your questions.

Keep the interview coming @jamesmovic. More power to ur elbow 💪

Themarkymark is a great choice for witness, not only because he has become a great friend of mine but because he really does give a shit. While some people do not agree with blacklisting and such, you must look at the whole picture and about what we want this platform we love so much to become.

If you vote him as witness you will be voting for not only someone who is way over qualified for the position and understands whats involved, but also voting for something who is working for a better platform for us to use for many years to come.

Great interview by the way.

@themarkymark its true that witnesses are representatives of communities nice inteeview @jamesmovic

Witnesses are great steemians who work hard to represent the community well. Before, I thought they had more power than other steemians... It is strange reading the opposite now.

Nice work @jamesmovic. Continue your good work!

Interesting interview...

Great interview, I'm glad I stumbled across Marky Mark's blog it has been great. I am still scroll through older posts catching up on awesome content.
