Simple Weight Loss Tips - Tip # 4 The Plate Rule
You finally decided to get your eating habits right. You type in the search bar 'healthy eating' and your eyes go dark.
Millions of pages filled with advice starting from caveman diets to juice cleanses and ketones open before your eyes. It seems that just to make sense of it all you need a bio - chemistry degree and a bulging six pack.
The desire to offer new and unique diet advice has made the health and fitness industry look for witch doctor remedies and old-new super foods that offer minor benefits and usually are just another marketing trick.
The real ways to eat healthy and regulate you weight are simple and do not require any special knowledge or secret powders made from a virgin albino elephant scrotum.
If you read my previous tips about weight loss and healthy eating, you know I believe in simple and effective tips.
This time I want to give you a simple rule that will help you to keep the proportions that you eat correct - making you lose weight and feel awesome doing it.
The Rule of The Plate
The rule of the plate is very simple. Every time you eat just use a plate and fill half of the plate with veggies that you like, a quarter of a plate with carbs - bread, pasta, rice , and a quarter of a plate with your proteins of choice - meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy or any vegan option.
Once you filled the plate, first eat all the veg, then the carbs and then the proteins.
That's it.
'No way that is enough' you're probably saying to yourself. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but that is all you need to start losing weight and feeling awesome.
Now, I don't want to dive into long hours of scientific mumbo jumbo so I will shortly explain why this works.
First of all, the big amount of vegetables will get your body the vitamins and minerals it requires and all the fiber in the veg will get your digestive tract working like a swiss watch.
The order of the foods is what guarantees you will not overeat. The vegetables are not a calorie dense food and eating all the vegetables first will fill you up and stop you from overeating calorie dense foods like meat.
Now regarding the carbs and proteins, unless you're a serious athlete you dont need alot of protein in your body but in order to have energy you have to eat a fair amount of carbs.
Eating the carbs first makes sure that you get the energy that you need and saves you from eating the excess fat that comes with the protein.
There are a couple of nuances I have to address;
*Any thing pickled, mayonnaised or cooked are not vegetables. Eat only fresh vegetables without seasoning.
*Avoid eating anything that is not it the correct proportions like sandwiches or burgers.
The portion size you need to measure by if you don't have a plate is you fist. For every fist size of rice you need to eat two fist sizes of vegetables.
Mix in different vegetables and greens as often as possible.
And now that is really it.

Good post, I think the problem is that many times we do not know how to distribute the adequate amounts of proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables in our meals, which often leads to problems with food.
This is exactly the problem I had so I just decided to simplify things by the plate rule. Thank you for reading
Very good advice to those who eat a lot of carbs - many in the US. I don't eat as much carbs as you are saying and I am pretty much on the veggie/protein diet for a few years now. I am thinner and feel so much more energy this way. This diet guideline was first described to me in the early 1980's, and I should have listened then.
I'm coming to you from @kryptonia with the same user name.
The issue is always with proportion, eating carbs and protein is okay you just have to eat everything in the right amounts
