The Perfect Woman and Part 2

She felt compelled to pick up the pencil. When she did, it started moving in a precise manner, forming letters as it went. Straight, perfect, uniform letters that almost looked like they were being typed.

Charlie watched as the letters formed words on the paper, “Is it safe to speak aloud here, Master?”

He stepped back and looked at her. This was strange. He hadn’t programmed anything into her that should lead her to being so suspicious. As a matter of fact, he couldn't figure out why she would be writing at all.

His brain was already going back over the coding, wondering where he’d messed up, lost in thought, forgetting that he was dealing with a robot he’d built that appeared to be doing things she shouldn’t. He glanced up and was jolted back to reality once again as he realized that she had placed her hand on his and was looking at him in complete silence, waiting for his answer.

“Oh! Yes, of course!” He reassured her, feeling silly for even saying that much.

She put the pencil to the paper again, “Are you sure no one is listening to us?” She wrote.

“Listening?” He nearly scoffed, but the look on her face stopped him. “No. There is no need to worry. No one is…” she placed her fingers on his mouth and he stopped.

“You are absolutely sure we are safe here?”

He looked at her in confusion. What was she talking about? A trickle of dread ran down his spine and he looked at her closer than before. Something was off. He looked at her eyes that seemed far too lifelike, He knew he was good at programming, at building robots, but her eyes seemed was too real.

He cleared his throat, “Did you hear that Mike called the company president an asshole?" he said. He looked pointedly down at the paper where she had written her questions and shook his head ‘no.’ For some reason, he felt the need to listen to her doubts. He needed to be somewhere other than the lab to get to the bottom of this.

She played along with the ruse, "Did he call him that to his face?" she asked, incredulous.

He held out his hand and she took it, smiling at him with a shy smile. He turned and led her through the doors of the lab, keeping up the stupid chatter all the while. He headed down the hallway, her hand in his, glad that he had went against his doubts and put actual clothes on her earlier. He just hoped that no one thought it was odd that he was walking around and OUT of the lab with this gorgeous woman.

They were walking down the hall when he heard a door open and footsteps coming towards them. Suddenly his ‘robot’ grabbed him to her and leaned against the wall, her hands going around his neck, pressing his mouth to hers.

Charlie was completely distracted as every other thought flew out of his mind. Her mouth was warm, her hands gripped his neck. Her tongue delved between his lips and he was taken away by the heat of it. He didn’t even notice the people walking past, snickering at the couple going at it in the hallway.

All of the sudden, she pulled back, “Okay, we’re good, let’s go.” She grabbed Charlie’s hand again and pulled him along as she started leading him down the hall at a faster pace. “Where is your transportation?” She asked.

“My, what? Where?” He was a feeling a little bit like he was the robot and his mind wasn’t quite firing the way it should be. THe programming was off or something. He watched this gorgeous woman walking in front of him, his eyes going to their hands linked together and he almost laughed in a somewhat hysterical way as he compared them to those stupid instagram posts that girls posted all the time. He tried to pull her to a stop, but she was far too strong for that. SHe just kept walking and if he wanted to keep his hand attached, he’d follow. So he did.

“Where is the transport?” She asked again.

“Uh, through those blue doors.” He replied.

Soon they were bursting through the door and the sun was practically blinding him. He shaded his eyes with his hand and pointed to his car at the back of the lot. She drew him in front of her and pressed him forward. He stumbled just a bit and headed for the car.

The doors unlocked as the headlights flashed. He opened the passenger door for her and she climbed in without a word. He got in the driver’s seat and soon they were headed out of the lot.

‘Maintenance is required, clearly’ he thought to himself. He was driving out of the parking area, waved to the guards on duty as Anna put her head down while they passed.

They were out on the freeway before he could even think of anything to say, and then it wasn’t terribly coherent. “What the hell was the? What were you thinking? Where are we? What is GOING ON?” he was stumbling over his own words, interrupting himself and completely and irrevocably confused.

She took his hand, “Master, I am here. It is all good.”

“I’M NOT YOUR MASTER!” He cried, still trying to understand.

“So you are not my creator?” She asked, her head tilted to the side, looking at him with those all too real features.

“Well, yes. I mean, no.” Charlie took his hand out of hers and gripped the wheel in front of him, trying like hell to focus on the road in front of them. “I thought I programmed you. I thought you were a robot, but this isn’t my doing.” He waved his hand at her, “You, this, whatever you are now? This is definitely not my creation.”

“You do have a point, Master.” She cleared her throat, “My apologies. What shall I call you?”

Charlie was fairly certain that he was headed straight for the mental hospital. Pretty soon she could just call him Inmate because he'd surely be arrested for stealing her!

Had she just really cleared her throat? Robots, no matter how real, surely never clear their throats. "Just call me Charlie," he said. ‘Yep,’ he thought. ‘I am definitely losing it.’ He looked back at her and she smiled at him, seeming to understand that he was having some issues coming to terms with their situation. That smile nearly undid him and he realized that no matter what she was or who she was, he was willing to do whatever she said as long as they could be together.

“Yeah, I’m definitely losing my mind.” he said aloud. She just smiled and squeezed his hand.

Thank you! I was very surprised when I checked in on the blog today. It is wonderful!

Whoah! Ok this story is like a magic trick...to write this odd robot/not robot character so believably. The mystery of it is tantalizingly intriguing, I can't wait to read the next one :D

Thank you! It is a very strange character to write. I think I will add more to the story tomorrow. Thank you for reading and commenting.

OMW over to see if there's a next installment!

I haven't written any more of that story on here. I'm thinking about fleshing it out into a full length story to publish on amazon as an ebook, though. I'll need reviewers when I get it finished, so I'll keep you in mind!
