Wednesday walk and Make me smile challenge collaboration results and Steem Basic Income Give away

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Try to limit yourself to a set distance or time from the starting location, say 5 Blocks, 5 Minutes walk or whatever and see what you can find in that short distance

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all.

Following me and resteeming the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion, but you may have a better chance of receiving a Steem Basic Income Share if you do.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, resteem and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk, plus I will be sending @steembasicincomeshares to a selection of those who participate.

And if you are looking for another fun challenge, check out the Make Me Smilehosted by @elizacheng, coming soon we will be working to collaborate on occasionally on these challenges,
The third Wednesday of the month out two challenges will collaborate so if you combine the two into one post you have double the fun

This weeks Wednesday Walk

I did not get out for many photo walks this past week, but I did visit this little park to get some shots for this challenge, now all the shots are in this park on 44th Street and 2nd Ave and all the shots are in this one spot, but it is a 5 minute walk from my office building to this park, so in my mind it counts as a walk, but I also have it on good authority the host of this challenge AKA me, is pretty easy going and only has guidelines and not rules

It is a small little park tucked inbetwen the big buildings in the city, with a cool metalic sculpture as the centerpiece of the park

It was a cool and dreary day, and there were not many people in the park at the time I visited it, however the bike park here is pretty popular, but what I did wonder is, how does the person with the red bike on the right get his bike out if he wants to leave earlier than the blue or black bikes which are locked over the top of the red bike?

I did happen to have my 90mm Macro lens with me that day and although with the cloudy skies, there was not as much light as I would prefer for getting real macro shots I did snap a few photos of some details, including this rusty chain and lock on one of the bikes .
I know its just decay but i do like rusty details like this.

And a bit more rusty detail on this bell on another one of the bikes

and this park of course has more than the metal of the sculpture and bikes, there is also some green in the trees in the park, and here is a little detail on one of the trees.

Steem Basic Income give away

I mentioned in the guidelines that from this week I will be sponsoring a few who join the #wednesdaywalk challenge with shares on Steem Basic Income

What is Steem Basic Income you may ask well here is how they explain it

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content. so I have decided to send some Steem Basic Income shares to 5 people selected through a random draw so on the weekend all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk. @leylar, @kamrunnahar, @fitinfun, @tali72, @tijntje,
all people who joined in last weeks Wednesday walk .
And a special bonus this week @elizacheng will send one SBI share to @bigtom13,

As the Third Wednesday @elizacheng and I collaborated with our Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenges

Congrats to @annepink (SBI winner from me )

I will add the winners shortly we haven't had a chance to do the draw for make me smile yet, but it will be done soon

I would love to be able to give everyone who joins a Steem Basic Income share, but I don't make enough steem each week to do so, but I will try and share them around fairly between those that join the challenge

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

Unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Oh!! What a wonderful thumbnail that you lured me in with! I love the random sculptures and the park tucked into the city somewhere.

Your close-ups are fabulous and wow! You really nailed the rusted chain and there is no getting around the beauty of that magnolia!

You totally had an awesome #Wednesdaywalk! Thanks for the inspiration. Mine will be out in about 30 minutes! :)

Have a great day!

!tip

Thanks as always for such kind comments,
I just swung by your walk and loved those fresh lush greens they are so sweet to see

Thank you so much and I always love how you lay your posts out. They flow so nicely it's always a pleasure to come over and peruse them.

I just saw where you were over it by Wednesday walk post, so thank you very much and thank you for the vote and steem! For these challenges are going to break us!

WOW thats a nice comment, I was thinking this morning I need to work on my post layout and change it up a bit but was not sure what I should do, this gives me a good excuse to leave it as is for a little longer LOL
Any excuse is a good one Aye LOL

Ohh yeah our Wednesday and friday posts do hit our balances a bit, I had not really thought about that but with the use of !tip and the SBI giveway, I guess I am close to giving away 6 Steem and 5 SBI some may think were crazy ( OK they may be right) but I think its a cool way we support the community and interaction.

Noooo! It is a really nice layout, leave it!

I hadn't thought about it to much until it really fell, but, after doing it for about a year and a half, I calculated that I give out 10-15 steem each MarketFriday... because I hit both of their posts and their dropped links, and get a LOT of comments. (as I am sure you do too)

It is a great way to support the community. The only thing I wish I could fix was the crash in VP. Right now, I am still at 32.97% - but, I know it will get better, right? :)

I thought you would be giving that much when I realized what I was giving

When my VP drops below 85% I just give tips so I manage to keep mine above that amount for the most part

Yeah it will get better :)

It's only money, right? It's kind of fun to spread it around! I need to get better about not voting so much, but, oh! I have such a hard time!

Yeah, it will get better!

As one of my uncles used to say coins are made round to remind us that money is made to go around

Actually I think he said money is round to go round or something like that but only coins are round

🎁 Hi @dswigle! You have received 0.1 SBD tip from @tattoodjay!

Thanks for your entry it looks a lovely place for a walk

Wow! That is definitely one rusty lock! I can't imagine it would even still work! Those are some nice shots. The weather is getting warmer! We should all soon be able to get out and about a little more.

thanks its fun to sometimes focus on the small things :) and yes soon its will be the time of the year being stuck in the office and seeing a nice day out is so frustrating ;)

I love your wednesday walks @tattoodjay as you take photos the way I look at things on a walk. In a big city you see the rust on the chain, the rhododendron bud waiting to open etc. Thanks for sharing your eye with us and doing your good wednesday walk 'challenge'. I'll do one one week, I promise :)

Thanks I think most and me included sometimes get draewn in by the big stuff in the city, but its good to slow down and look at the small things as well and since i have got my new lens I have been doing that more

No pressure to join the walk, but just a reminder that isnt clear and I may need to reword my Wednesday Walk guideline,s the walk does not have to be on a Wednesday it can be anyday I just ask if possible to share the post on a Wednesday :)

Like the rusty close-ups. A little patina can make something dazzle that was once boring. :-)

I to love rusty detail, I was looking for some more yesterday

Wow amazing photography!

Thanks Kindly :)

I'm guessing the steel sculpture is a representation of a dinosaur. That's what it looks like to me.
The macro shot of the lock is in fine detail.
The red bike is a conundrum for sure lol.

Would love to see the owner's expression when they see where the bike is lol

Another fab little park Jay.

Whoops almost forgot to drop off my walk post...almost lol

I hadnt seen that Sculpture as a dinosaur but now that you mention it I see it now and will always see that , I could imagine the red bike owner was quite frustrated if he decided to leave early

I saw your post thanks so much for joining the walk

The bike owner returning would be a classic shot. I can imagine the look on their face. Bemused!

I'm getting to grips with the 300 mm lens and I'm getting much sharper focus when using it. The raptor above was a bit disappointing but at least I got something while practising. ;-)

ITs funny ho each lens has its peculiarities and takes time to get to know them but its fun trying and working it all out :)
