The Philippine banca
Definition of banca. plural -s. : a small boat found in Pacific waters especially around the Philippines; usually: a dugout canoe often provided with outriggers and a roof of bamboo.
This photo was taken during the Sto. Niño Fluvial Parade, significantly a yearly mainstay event celebrated together with the Sinulog.
Hundreds of devotees take a short voyage to show their love and devotion to Sto. Niño by cruising the Mactan Channel.
The lively aquatic procession starts from the image’s home in the heart of Cebu City, the Basilica Minore de Sto. Niño, then it takes its course along the channel, terminates at the St. Joseph Parish in Mandaue City. The Sinulog is considered incomplete without the fluvial parade.
I have always joined this celebration, in the past, it was also a yearly event for me as I lived near the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge. However, when we had to move to Mactan Island, our house was a little bit far from the bridge so there were really times I had to miss the parade.
Dear Steemians, I hope the photo's visually entertaining to you all. In closing, whatever status we are in, no matter what the circumstance may be, let us all be a lover of life.
This is my photo entry for @juliank’s and @photocontests’ #vehiclephotography

That's an awesome shot! In my hometown of Gloucester, MA, we have a yearly Saint Peter's Fiesta, that essentially shows appreciation for the patron saint of fishermen. Your picture is very reminiscent of that. Love the colors too! Excellent capture, @fotografia101!
Thanks @traciyork. Very interesting! The Philippines having been colonized by Spain for 300years is still at present pre-dominantly Catholic, hence the fiesta every now and then.
Makes sense - Gloucester has a high population of Catholics as well. In fact my father (who was an altar boy for Saint Peter's church) even considered entering the priesthood for a time. While a number of the churches in town have now closed, Fiesta is still going strong every year. 😊
Hey @fotografia101, thats really a wonderful click, I would like to ask did you use drone to capture it from that height ?
I loved the contrast of the colors in this image
Nope, I was on the bridge looking down at the boats @clicked. Thanks for dropping by.
Ok yea its long time since i saw your post
Beautiful, my friend... It seems a colorful celebration. Excellent and clean shot.
Thanks a lot @tupamalo, this was during the fiesta in my town.
Amazing photo
