Doctors Who Medically Exempt Children from Mandatory Vaccines Can Lose Their Jobs

Four years ago, Dr. Bob Sears wrote a medical exemption for vaccination of a 2 year-old patient who previously had negative reactions to vaccines. Dr. Sears is not anti-vaccine, but he recognizes there are issues at times, and doesn't ascribe to the idea of a one-size-fits-all vaccination approach. He is a strong proponent of parental rights and informed consent.

The medical needs of the patient should be taken into consideration. An individualized approach should be taken, where vaccines can be spread out or staggered. If a patient has health issues, then some vaccines can be omitted from being administrated.

But this reasoning fails to suit the California state Medical Board, who applied disciplinary action against Dr. Sears when he chose to exempt a 2-year-old from a vaccine. As the Orange County Register reported:

According to the board documents, the toddler was seen by Sears for the first time in April 2014. His medical record notes that his mother said after his 2-month shots his bowels and bladder “shut down” for 24 hours. After the baby’s 3-month shots, she said, he was limp for a day and didn’t act like himself for a week.

That seems like a very good reason to forgo further vaccination. Dr. Sears was also an outspoken critic of California's mandatory vaccination bill, SD277. This will has since been approved and put into law. It removed the philosophical and religious right to be exempted from receiving a vaccine. The only approved exemption under the new law was for medical reasons that only a doctor could provide.

Yet, this is what Dr. Sears did, and he was being disciplined for doing his job which complied with the new rules. A medical doctor can legally exempt a patient from mandatory vaccines, yet the state Medical Board was going after him nonetheless. The case against Dr. Sears is described further:

The board accuses Sears of committing “gross negligence” in 2014 when he wrote a letter excusing the toddler from future vaccinations after the child’s mother described an adverse reaction as an infant.

The documents say Sears failed to obtain a detailed medical history documenting the unidentified boy's prior vaccines and reactions, which was necessary for making an evidence-based decision. Sears' recommendation left the patient and "his future contacts at risk for preventable and communicable diseases," the documents say.

Not proving that he looked at a detailed medical history is Dr. Sears' rime it appears. It seemed that the Medical Board was using the popularity of Dr. Sears to send a message and intimidate any other doctors who would dare to write vaccine exemptions.

Parents have been told by doctors that they think the child should have medical exemption, but that they can't have it because if the doctor did, he would lose his job. Doctors are trusted to provide for the health of families, but are being coerced into not being able to do so. It's a shame that a job that calls for doing no harm is enabling because the person who has that job fears they will lose their job.

Otherwise honest doctors are choosing their job security over a patient's health needs. The message is to toe the line of a pro-vaccine agenda to blindly apply mandatory vaccination, or else lose your license to practice medicine. Dr. Suzanne Humphries is a doctor who chose to leave her practice when she saw the corruption of the medical industry in vaccine injury cover-ups.

The legal framework of SB277 is not being followed, despite it's author Dr. Richard Pan assuring the public that doctors could write medical exemptions. Dr. Sears may well have saved a boys life, causing no harm to anyone in the public, but is being vilified by the Medical Board. This is political move to get doctors to play the game of the pro-vaccine agenda.

Big pharma is a big influence and applies lobbying pressure on California lawmakers. They want everyone to take vaccines, and not have any freedom to choose not to. With SB277 being passed to make mandatory vaccines almost guaranteed, they expected all doctors to play ball despite the facade of allowing medical exemptions.

Dr. Sears has written about his experience on his Facebook page, posted on June 29, 2018. He mentions how the medical board offered him a 35 month probation, rather than go to trial. He has accepted, as even if we won in trial, they could still use their authority to put him on probation, probably for longer. And winning would depend on a judge. Losing would mean he could lose his license, and no child would be helped further.

I picked a fight with a California Legislator, and he has been very vocal about openly working with the medical board to prosecute doctors who excuse patients from their vaccines, regardless of the merits of a case.

The medical board is going after him for 4 more cases, possibly keeping him on medical probation for the rest of his career. Contrary to the first case where he was silent about what was happening, he plans to be more outspoken about the other 4. He's done being quiet.

So, case number two involves siblings who got vaccine medical exemptions from me because one of the children has a severe medical condition that research has shown can get worse with ongoing vaccination. The other child doesn’t have the condition, yet, but dad does. Exemption for reasons in a family’s medical history is an amendment guaranteed under SB277. We’ll see if the medical board agrees - probably about two years from now. These things take a long time.

Case number five involves siblings to whom I did not give vaccine exemptions to, but a parent somehow reported me to the medical board anyway. I don’t know why yet. Should be interesting.

He wants more people to learn about what's going on so they can exercise their rights, and get more doctors to stand for what's right and change the corrupt system:

More doctors need to stand up for their patients, especially the ones who are the most vulnerable. I’m going to continue to stand for these children.

Now that case one is settled, I can go back to being loud and proud about my belief that every single patient should receive complete informed consent prior to vaccinations. This two-year period of silence has been tough. I will not rest until every single family has been given access to full, complete, objective, and un-doctored information that makes every parent fully aware of the risks they accept if they don’t vaccinate their child, and all the risks they take if they do vaccinate their child. Period. And I will fight against mandatory vaccination laws until they are no more. When every single person on this planet has access to informed consent, and can make a free choice, I will then be able to say my work is done.

Dr. Sears has a long road ahead, but as he said "I signed up for this." It's a battle against corrupt officials who stand against parental rights and the right to consent. Hopefully more doctors stand with him to change the tide.
