Let's Talk About Steem - The Social Blockchain
Broadcasting the Blockchain
Yesterday, @timcliff hosted a social media blast day campaign to strengthen awareness of the Steem blockchain. You can browse some of the articles and content developed uniquely for this event under the tag #ssmbd. On Sunday, whilst meandering the depths of Discord, @techslut reached out to see if we might join in on the fun. Graphic design? Education? Crypto awareness? Of course! Over the last year, our team has been very active in cultivating Steem awareness through public art projects, an exhibition, university lectures, workshops, magazines and more.
As we all know, kickstarting an educational crypto-conversation is not easy. This campaign is a tricky one. Steem carries a simple premise (that content and engagement is valuable), but the mechanics behind it are very complex. One image, one tweet or even 1 article simply cannot cover all the bases.
Boiling it Down
Campaigns like these are about starting the conversation. With this animated graphic (scroll down) we wanted to create a series of punchlines that dumb down all the best of Steem. It's a lot to cover! Our tweet has done well so far, with 22 retweets / 45 likes. Shout out to Steem's official twitter account for the retweet!

How do we continue the conversation?
Steem has it's foot in the door (so to speak). This campaign is a step in the right direction. We need more proactive witnesses to rally the masses and cultivate awareness for this blockchain. Still, any grassroots campaign needs something to point to in an effort to learn more. Where would you direct newcomers / investors interesting in the steps beyond your catchy Tweet or Facebook link?

I couldn't agree more on everything you said. I had been here for a couple of minutes thinking what to add more about Steem. Well, I was able to think one important - Communities.
It empowers communities. The thing that has made a big impact here in Cebu, Philippines and will empower more as the Hivemind arrives.

@jassennessaj You're right it's all about community! I've just joined Steemit and trying to bring the whole CRU community with me, that means working on getting some of our near 10 000 members/supporters world wide to join Steemit and learn this stuff with me. I too really appreciate the posts made by @sndbox and must say a huge THANK YOU, you are helping me to make sense of it all. In turn I'll be able to help others, trying to get them to stop wasting their time posting on Facebook and other social media platforms when they can be posting here and earning Cryptocurrency and $$ :) There is a saying in the Hip Hop community "Each One, Teach One" really looking forward to learning and teaching what I learn. I saw your tweet and it is really amazing, the general consensus about the blast day is to ensure the general public get effected with the STEEM syndrome and hopefully we are achieving that with our effort already in line. Also, if we continue at this pace, STEEM will definitely be the talk in the cryptospace.

It's interesting to know that @sndbox has more support/response outside Steemit. What do you think could be responsible for this and how can Steemit improve internal community response?

Well, we actually weren't looking for any kind of support internally. Steemit has fantastic crypto-awareness already / plus a strong understanding of the blockchain. Our goal - and the goal of the whole campaign - was to make others aware of Steem.
The goal was to get more engagement and conversations going about the Steem blockchain on Twitter, Facebook and Reddit etc. (where awareness is very low).
It's important to broadcast outside of internal apps like Steemit in order to grow the community as a whole :)

I have set up a few Steemit Groups on Facebook and bringing many new artists from Facebook to Steemit .. as soon as they realize that they can be paid for their creative content here...

From my perspective the support that @sndbox has amassed is basically framed on the footing of consistent hard work that they directed towards spreading the steem gospel....Aint no day on twitter you would notice a tweet from @sndbox or @creativecrypto about steem and with such consietency it is natural you might most likely get some level of following and subsequent engagement in the form of replies, retweetsand likes.
I retweet most of their tweets that have me enticed and many other guys also do.

I'm not just that good at following instructions (especially when they are not simplified or outlined comprehensively for a dullard like me to understand) But, I'm a cool learner (though a bit slow). I'll stop at nothing till my efforts can reach them... you can rest assured of that.

@gregjava we have a lot of artists, writers, musicians as part of the CRU community, friends of mine and people I've worked with, perhaps you can help me to get them to Steemit and/or help to them utilize this platform once they are here? Is this something you'd be interested in?
