The Actifit Series: iOS App, New iOS version 0.3.3 and other updates (Episode 7)

Introduction

The actifit app is one of the platforms or dApps built on the Steem blockchain. As with other like apps, the actifit project provides users with a service. For an app like actifit, its aim is to encourage the members of the steem community to engage in healthy activities so as to remain fit at all times. Some of these activities are jogging, boxing, walking, basketball, running, martial arts and even shopping.

Apart from its focal or primary aim, the actifit project has the mission of incentivizing users for engaging in their fitness activities on a daily basis. The reward comes in the form of an invite made on the user's report card by the actifit account. In addition to this, users also receive AFIT tokens for proof of activity. This is distributed in accordance with the step count the users were able to achieve for the day.

Thus, apart from the health and physical benefits you gain from using the actifit app, you also stand to gain financially. The actifit app was first created as an android app. All users needed to do was to simply install the app from Google Playstore, start it up and begin their activity for the day. In my last actifit series post, I had mentioned that the actifit iOS app was ready and just awaiting approval from apple. All of that is over now.

The Actifit iOS App

Finally, the actifit iOS App is now live on the Apple iOS store. iOS users can now download the app from the store and begin engaging in various activities on a daily basis in order to gain financially and healthwise from their use of the actifit app. The resultant effect of this so far has been a welcome increase in the daily activity reports.

With this actifit iOS version, the project now caters for the two major software for our smartphone platforms. Actifit is already going global and grabbing a major market share on the Steem blockchain. A lot of people are now aware of the existence of such an app. In the coming days, with the new app and with this growing awareness, the community of actifitters will grow to a phenomenal level and several people will gain appreciably from using the app.

Fixes & New iOS Version 0.3.3

Yes, the new iOS version is here and iOS users are happy. But with every newly released alpha and beta versions, there’s always the possibility of ending up with a few issues or errors. There could also be some phones with versions of the iOS software that will not totally flow with these versions of the software. With the feedback received from the actifit community, some issue with the maiden version of the iOS version was spotted. These issues were particularly related to the app’s activity tracking aspect.

To solve this issue, fixes were made and the new version was sent to Apple for approval. Before this version was sent out, it had to undergo quite some testing from our community of our beta testers. On our discord group, we have a channel solely dedicated to members who helps us to pretest our app versions before they are released.

This update takes care of the few issues that were spotted by our eagle-eyed users. A continuous revaluation of the current actifit versions both on android and iOS will help keep the team in the loop as to what issues currently exists. This will be helpful in allowing them create a timetable on how to address these issues as they come without possibly hampering users experience.

Updates To Actifit Graphics

With the addition of the iOS actifit app to the actifit family of apps, there arose the need to make its presence known across all resources employed by actifit. Thus, all actifit graphics and pictures were accordingly edited to reflect the new addition. These graphics when appended on the daily users’ report cards now bear the Apple logo at the bottom right end of the picture side by side with the Android Google Playstore logo.

Also, all graphics used on actifit formerly had just the Google Playstore hyperlink at the bottom right of each picture when it was just an android monopoly. With the coming of the iOS version, a similar hyperlink to the Apple store has now been added just above the Playstore link. These links allow both new and existing users easily reach actifit app on any of their preferred platforms without hassles.

Apart from that, it allows for easy identification in the sense that a quick look at any of the pictures will tell a user that the app is present on both the android and the iOS platforms. So far, @chrstnv who revamped the graphics for the community the last time has always been on hand to effect the needed change.

The Actifit.io Website And New Update

New users who just come across actifit daily report cards by users may feel that the actifit platform is only app based – android and iOS. It therefore is pertinent to let users know about the other platform of actifit which is the actifit.io website. Users can access the website by simply typing in www.actifit.io in their browser’s url bar, or clicking on this link Actifit (https://www.actifit.io).

In a previous post of mine, I talked in-depth about the actifit website, its sections such as wallet, posts, team members and several others. I also talked about how to sign in or sign up via this website. Now just like the actifit apps versions, the website also undergoes periodic changes, bug fixes and improvements over the course of the project’s life. And with the potential coming of the SMTs by next year, it is only imperative that Actifit positions itself to become one of the leading and fastest growing dApps on the steem blockchain.

With this in mind, Actifit is continuously making changes to its current version of the actifit website. At the moment, the current addition to accessible functions on the actifit website is the Editor tool. Before now, the Actifit website only allowed users vote and view posts made with the actifit tag. However, with this update, users can now edit their actifit posts via the actifit.io website.

Abuse and Actifit’s Anti Abuse Movement

In every faucet of our world today, there’s always the potential for abuse either by members of the society or users of a product. There’s even the risk of potential abuse from those who are supposed to defend the system. Some of the abuse faced on the actifit platform includes but not limited to plagiarism, irrelevant content, multiple accounts, incorrect information, and a whole lot of others.

So far, since Actifit began the anti-abuse drive, the abuse stemming from users of the app has reduced greatly. In the course of ensuring compliance to set down rules and guidelines, a number of community members have been banned. The resultant effect of this was that some of these abusers ended up losing all AFIT rewards gathered so far.

It therefore is essential that users of the Actifit platform ensure that they do not run afoul of policies of the project when posting their daily report cards. This is important so as to avoid facing the consequences that would occur from their acts.

Conclusion

This post covers happenings with the actifit project about four weeks past. Users of the app or actifit platforms through this post, will understand the changes made on both the actifit mobile apps and its website. The actifit app is progressively changing in the right direction and several new features are being introduced.
