The Actifit Series - Decommissioned Versions and Other Updates [Episode 4]

Introduction

Actifit is running on the speed lane and there’s no intention to crash anytime soon. Occasionally, during the lifetime of a project or a process, the need for change arises and there’s always the need to get it fixed or edited for the greater good of the project and everyone dependent on it. This post is a continuation of series of posts on a compilation of updates on the actifit app within the previous week, as well as overall growth of the actifit project.

Decommissioned Apps

In the last post of these series, the Episode 3 to be precise, I mentioned that the actifit project was decommissioning the V 0.1 of our app due to how obsolete it had become since we began introducing new changes to the entire outlook and structure of our app. However, we have decided to take it a top notch higher by decommissioning all versions of the actifit fitness app up until the V 0.3.

Currently, one looking to download the actifit app from the Playstore will only have access to the V 0.3.1. Not only that, users who try to post through any lower versions will be greeted with an error message. Therefore, it is expected that all users make the upgrade as soon as possible. As often said, change is the only constant thing in life…!!

The reason for the decommissioning of the apps were because they had become obsolete considering the kind of changes present in the latest version of the app. As such, the older version presented users with a little bit of an unfair advantage over other users, as well as the fact that posts made from those older versions were not well organized, and lacked the kind of coordination other posts from users with the recent version had.

We are asking all our numerous users to ensure they update their actifit app to the latest version and keep on actifitting!!

Updated Website & Great Look!

Hurray!! The Actifit website now sports a great look. The past week came with some major changes on the entire outlook of the actifit website. This has made it look much more attractive, as well as functional for us all at actifit. Before now, the website was a simple one showing the mockup of all actifit is and what we do, as well as allow you check the status of your actifit wallet.

With this update however, the actifit website has now become much more than that. Now, users will need to log in to access their account, and have the ability to check the current status of their posts, as well as to have an overview of their activity reports so far since right from the beginning. Users are also presented with a summary of their wallet upon logging onto the actifit website.

In addition to this, another page has been added. This is known as the “activity” page. This page simply tracks all the activities carried out and the posts made via the actifit app to the steemit page. It collates the users, their step counts as well as the kind of activities they did for the day. A link to the post on steemit is also added so that everyone can easily access the post.

iOS Version in the works

Although it is yet to be officially out or announced, the actifit iOS is currently in the works. We already have someone (an iOS app developer) working on it and according to the speed at which it is coming up, we hope to release it before the end of this month. And that’s all I have on the iOS app release. I am not allowed to release any further information more than this at the moment.

Promote Actifit and get Rewarded:

Since the start of the actifit project about a month ago, we have been majorly focused on upvoting and rewarding only activities (step counts) by users made via the actifit application. However, that has all changed back from last week. This is due to a lot of promotional posts we have been seeing on the blockchain about actifit. Thus as a community, wish to begin rewarding these contents.

As such, we the moderators of the actifit community have been saddled with the responsibility of looking for quality actifit contents geared towards promoting the app and the community at large. On a daily basis, we will decide on a maximum of one post to be the actifit promotional post of the day. The reward? The promotional post of the day will receive an upvote from the actifit account, as well as an actifit tokens reward of 200 AFIT.

Yet another issue – Duplicate Tags

Recently, we faced another issue from our actifit app by one of our user. Normally, when a user makes a post from our actifit app, the actifit tag is automatically inserted by our posting script into the tags section of the post. However, some of our users had edited their apps through other steem front-ends, added and/or removed the actifit tags and added theirs. As a result, the posts made by these users were not rewarded during the voting rounds by the actifit bot.

Fortunately, a user reported this to us via our discord channel. This has now been fixed by the actifit developer and now a post made via actifit can only contain one actifit tag and no more. With this, the issue has now been overcome and hopefully, there would be no more occurrences in the future.

Abuse Prevention Unit

In every organization, society or community, there will always remain that possibility of wanton abuse by fellow members of the community, especially one where there’s the opportunity for financial rewards or otherwise. Since the actifit project kicked off, we have faced abuse from several quarters and in different forms. We have had users try to duplicate posts, as well as tick many activity types even when they hardly did any activity for the day.

Due to some of these issues and in an attempt to curb the abuse, we implemented some changes in past updates of our app such as a minimum word count of 30 words to allow users write a much interactive post and also to add pictures of their activities via the steemit frontends or any of the other sister frontends. However, we still have users inserting unrelated content into the post box just to make up the 30 words limit and post their report for the day.

As a result, we the actifit moderators have been saddled with the task of sifting through all actifit posts made on a daily basis and pointing out those users who like to do that. Any user caught involving in such prohibited act will be banned from the actifit community, and would also forfeit any future rewards.

Actifit Delegated SP, Delegators and their payouts

The Actifit account now stands at 96,000 delegated steem power received from several delegators spread over the blockchain. We are hitting 100k DSP soon. That’s right! Are you not excited?

With the SP received so far, we have been able to upvote our way through the hundreds of posts we receive on a daily basis. But as Oliver, we still need more. We want to be able to give our users even better, larger and higher upvotes. That’s why we want you to delegate to us. Do you have any SP that you are not using? Actifit needs it please!

Definitely, it won’t be for free. Our delegators receive a daily payout in terms of the AFIT token on a 1:1 ratio for whatever amount of SP they delegate to us. So if you delegate 1,000 SP to us, you will receive a thousand AFIT token on a daily basis from Actifit. This will be on a continual basis.

So far, we have disbursed no less than 2 million tokens to more than 10,000 different holders - delegators and actifiters alike and the numbers are still on the increase on a daily basis. Endeavor not to miss out on this golden opportunity to be a holder of one of the most promising tokens on the steem blockchain.
