Introduction

Actifit

For users who are yet to know about this project, Actifit is an app built on the steemit blockchain. The main aim of this project is to encourage individuals, steem users especially to exercise more often thus improving their overall health.

Post Body

A. The Actifit Website & its Sub Divisions

The main objective behind the writing of this post is to explain the actifit website to both new and existing users. The reason is that we find users asking questions on a daily basis on how to use the website. There is also the recurring question of if they need to log in before they can have access to their AFIT tokens.

For a better understanding of the subject matter, the actifit website has been broken down into subdivisions and will be explained in such a manner. Below, we will start out with the log in/sign up page.

i. Log in/Sign Up page

When you access the actifit website for the first time, the first page you will come across is the log in/ sign up page. The actifit app is one of the dApps built on the steem blockchain, and by virtue of that, allows users make their posts to the blockchain. The website of actifit, Actifit.io was also designed to function in the same manner.

Thus to log into the actifit website, users need to make use of their steemit details – username and key. This process is made secure by employing the use of steemconnect, another dApp that authorizes other dApps to interact with the blockchain.

To log into the Actifit website, click on the “Log In” button which would immediately redirect you to the steemconnect sign in page. Ensure that you are on the steemconnect website before you proceed. Here, you will need to give some certain permissions to the app before you can continue to the next page.

To complete the sign in process, you need to input your username and active key. At the successful authentication of your details, you will be redirected back to the Actifit website where you can visit its different sections.

The “Sign Up” button is for new/intending users who are just coming across the steemit platform or the actifit project. This may be due to advertisements on actifit outside the steemit platform and the interest of these prospective users in fitness, exercise and activity. At the moment, clicking the “Sign Up” button would redirect the user to the steemit sign up page where they can sign up for free or pay some token to fast track the sign up process.

Although Actifit currently relies on the Steemit sign up options, I am of the belief that this would be tweaked in a future not so far off to allow for a faster sign up process. Hopefully, with the coming of SMTs, there would be positive developmental changes to the actifit entire project.

ii. Landing Page

The landing page is the next page you meet after logging into actifit.io. This has been designed to show you snapshot details of your AFIT tokens as well as your activity reports. Beneath each of these are links that would take you to your wallet page, as well as your activity history.

Clicking on “My Wallet” page takes you to your wallet where you can see your balance. Not just that, you can also see the history of your earnings, and what you did to earn them. There are a number of ways to earn AFIT tokens – Activity reports, delegations, moderation rewards, actifit tagged post upvote.

These earnings have besides them links where when you click on it, would take you to the post you upvoted, or the activity report you posted for the day. This goes to show you how well structured and detailed the Actifit website is.

The “My Activity” button will take you to the history of all your fitness activities on the actifit platform. Your report card, your posts, and a link to these posts on the steemit blockchain are also included under each and every one of your activity.

iii. The “What is Actifit” Page

The “What is Actifit” Page gives you an insight into what the actifit platform is all about, and what it has been set out to achieve. Here you get to see other information like the amount of AFIT tokens distributed so far, the number of token holders, and the amount of rewarded activities currently.

Here also, various ways to earn these AFIT tokens are explained, their uses cases are also talked about and a Google Playstore link is also placed here for downloads. This is an important section of the website because it will influence the prospective users’ choice either positively or negatively.

iv. Activity Page

Before now, the activity page was not present on the actifit website. It was added in one of the recent upgrades to the website.

So far, it has proved to be one of my best sections. The activity reports page was designed to extract all activity reports from users reports made on the steemit blockchain and present it in an orderly manner.

On the activity page, you can see all users’ posts in a minimalistic box like structure with a link which takes you to the steemit blockchain where you can read the full post. It also holds other details like activity count, type of activity, username, number of comments and upvotes, and a few other details. So it helps me as a moderator to go through each posts easily, and decide on the strength of upvote I give to each of these posts.

v. Leaderboard Page

Though everyone is a winner, someone has to take the first, second and third positions. And due to the kind of project actifit is, the website has a section where the first three highest users occupy the top three positions.

This is usually compiled at the end of the day, and the top three users go to the leaderboard.

The idea behind this is to motivate others to work hard so that they can also occupy the leaderboard positions. On several occasions, we have seen users clock up to 40,000 plus activity count and it is only imagined what kind of exercise that user had done to achieve that count.

I am also hoping that at some point in the future, the leaderboard position will become something that is updated regularly in real time. I for one, believes that it would spice up the fun all the more. Imagine I have 5,000 steps and I am topping the leaderboard position at that time, and everyone is seeing it in real time. Others will surely put in lots of effort to ensure that they surpass me and occupy that first position. Ultimately, they would be all the better for it.

The leaderboard page is also present on the actifit app so either you access it on the app or via the website.

vi. Team Page

The team page is the section that showcases the actifit team members. At the moment, we are a team made up of 11 members, with @mcfarhat being the team lead/CEO/Developer. The team is slowly bonding and actively taking the project to greater heights through their various activities.

Also included just below the team members are ambassadors of the actifit project. They are four in number and these ambassadors have been just so good ambassadors of the actifit project. We are entirely grateful to them for their untiring support.

vii. Sponsored Athletes Page

The Sponsored Athletes Page has details of the athletes the actifit project supports. There are just three of them so far.

B. Recent Developments to the Actifit Website

The Actifit website has witnessed a number of developments in recent times. I had the intention to talk about them here but I think it would be better if they appear in my normal post updates. This would be published in a few days.

C. Suggestions for the Actifit Website

I have a few suggestions I believe would be greatly beneficial to the actifit project. Currently, I am still fine tuning them to sound better so that understanding and implementing them would not be difficult to achieve.

If you have any suggestions whatsoever for the actifit project, feel free to chat up any of the actifit mods directly on discord, or talk to us on our discord server.

Thank you!

Hey,

This is a very good post, and one that will be extremely helpful to new and existing Actifit users.

I do want to talk about an issue with your writing, which may have to do with your native language. Many of your sentences are overly complex, and could be easier to read if they were simpler. I'll give some examples, as usual.

  • "For users who are yet to know about this project, Actifit is an app built on the steemit blockchain." There two ways to deal with this sentence. The first would be to entirely delete the first half. It is unnecessary. Or, if you do want to keep a version of it, "For those unfamiliar with this project" works better. On a side note, I'll mention that Actifit is built on the Steem blockchain, not Steemit. You know this, I'm sure.

  • "The main objective behind the writing of this post is to explain the actifit website to both new and existing users" is, likewise, overly complex. "This post's main objective" would be clearer.

  • "For a better understanding of the subject matter, the actifit website has been broken down into subdivisions and will be explained in such a manner. " is needlessly passive, and needlessly complex. How about "To better explain this, I've broken the Actifit website into subdivisions, and will explore each separately."

Thank you for another excellent contribution.
