The House on the Hill in the Company of Trees on Tuesday Ulog #5
Dear Steemy Friends,
You know that house on the hill, the one I always tell you I want to live in?
That's where I am
--She said to her husband on her phone
I've heard variations on this about three times in the years we've lived here. Today was the latest.
Me to my husband on my phone:
I've collected another wayward waif.
He asks
You've what?!
She and I laughed that laugh of kindred spirits. That laugh that goes between a much older aunt and her niece, a young mom ... Or between two women who have a similar age gap and who just became real-life instafriends.
She and I fit the last group. She was thrilled I was home and willing to help. I was thrilled she was willing to forgive the state of my house.
Me to him:
I've collected another lost child.
She and I laughed even harder.
People get stranded around here (because vehicles fail). And it's a long long walk down the road. 👣 They end up at our home.
Today's chickadee arrived on my doorstep about drowned to death and ready to collapse. On top of the long long walk she had weathered a storm out in the open. I cringed when she told me she was huddled up under a tree. Yehovah God is good. This time the tree was not one of the lightning rods.
She is going to be feeling the impact of today's automobile breakdown for awhile. I was able to go a few extra steps to help a little more than expected.
She was relieved and she was a bit embarrassed.
So I told her:
Listen, you don't know where I've been and what I've been through. I'm telling you this might end up really well or it might be very rough but you will get through to the other side.
AND you have no idea how many people helped me along the way. It is just simply my turn to help the best I can. Your turn to help others will come.
She thanked me again for the 25th time and I gave her a hug and sent her on the way to her younger brother who had come to fetch her home. I hope I see her again. She was a fun interruption.
In other news ...
It's been storming for two days and it looks like more are in store for tomorrow. I don't run my big powerhouse PC in the storms. We attract lightning. We have for a dozen years. Fact.
I've not slept well for the last few nights so I've been taking advantage of napping while it rains. We all know that's the real reason for rain -- naptime!
I am missing the sunny mornings and sitting in the company of trees.

First of all thanks for your advice about @mariannewest freewrite. I'm still exploring Steem blockchain, so it could take some time but you'd see my participation in that contest. My writing is not as good as of other participants' but, I'm sure, It will definitely help in improving my writing skills.
It has always been a pleasure to read your posts, it is not different this time as well.
The photograph is fascinating for me. I love such lovely clear and calm environment but not for more than a week. This is a disadvantage of being a resident in a big city and used to have a rush in the daily life.

Thanks ma'am for your encouraging words. I've already joined you and have been writing for freewrite. But you'll see my post when I'll be at least 5 percent satisfied with my writing.

@mobi72 I just today discovered that you've been posting. You were one of the people I read earlier today. Your little boy is so very charming.
For some reason, I did not pick up that you are struggling with my English. I have an Indonesian friend whom I make a little nuts. You are probably in very good company with some of my American friends, too. In other words, trust me, it's me.
I'll try to pay a bit more attention to my crazy phrasing styles. I use to write for an international crowd all the time. It took them awhile to adjust to me and it took a good long time for me to clean up my grammar.
As to your own writing skills. They are quite good! I think it's why I didn't realize I was tripping you with my English.
As to the freewrite, don't let the writers who are practiced at writing stories be your measuring stick, unless you do write fictional stories. The goal is to simply let your thoughts leak out of your brain.
I write personal essays, pondering about life. So, when I do a freewrite, I continue to ponder. I am sure you can do the same, just let the words fall.
Oh and remember if the prompt doesn't click, look back over the past prompts and choose a different one.
Really, the only way to measure success with a freewrite is this: Did you write out your thoughts for five minutes? If you did, you succeeded.
We had a 3 day break from the rain with the temperatures reaching 90F and the humidty being around 70%. Now, the rain is suppose to visit in the afternoon for the next several days. I don't think it will be nearly as intense.
I must go get some sleep for the night. Tomorrow, I will come write my thoughts on your blog ;-)
And Please Please, when you come to a place in my writing that you just simply cannot sort out, don't hesitate to ask me to rephrase it. I'm use to it. I do it all the time for my American friends. And my husband.
In my previous comment first sentence was meant for you, rest was my loud thinking which I was sharing with you.
I've already tried and have been trying to write for freewrite but couldn't succeed to post anything. I'm a slow thinker and 5 minutes are not enough time for me to write anything meaningful. This was the reason I said, "It'll be good for my writing skills improvement." but instead I should have said, "It'll be good for my writing skills and to speed up my thoughts' flow."
My uncle is a retired army man and lives in a remote village in Pakistan. Very calm, very clean & green environment. Last time I visited him 10 years back. That time there, everyone was habitual to sleep around 8 pm. I'm a Karachiite, we're do not sleep this early. Within one week time, that clean and green environment became a pain in my neck and I said them "Good Bye" and left for my lovely over populated and polluted Karachi. (This was the reason behind my second loud thought.)
I could never ever dare to ask you to change anything in your writing. I can fully understand each and every written word by you, but sometimes I could be unable to write my exact thoughts in appropriate words.

I posted this post somewhat in my sleep. I've now edited it about 5 times. LoL.
I've added the context that she was talking to her husband on her phone and I was talking on my phone to my husband.
I would have had to been dead to not realize she was in some pretty big trouble.
And I'm convinced there are serious consequences for withholding help and kindness.
The irony to all this rain: Most of the loud stuff is in the day.
It's looking like today is pretty much the end of it. Then I'll be back to chasing you in the Engagement League again!
Good I've been slacking this week! To much typing on discord and many other things going on.
I was hoping to put out some strong numbers this week. I might have to take day and try to catch up to some of the other ones!
I was actually shocked to debut last week at 62 without much trying. I was just in my old swing of things about 2 days or so.
Very nice you might give some of them 500+ commenters a week a run!
Depth and volume LOL those are my secret moves ... I can have longer and more wordy conversations than just about anyone I know.
People have joked I write mini novels sometimes for comments. I have forgotten since its been a while I think my longest comment was 1200 words or maybe much longer.
I did have that one post where I commented a dozen or times and engaged with a few different people. I seem to not have as much free time as I like these days to comment.

I think you are safe for this week. My lack of sleep had my ADHD all over and of the charts. And it's Shabbat time in a few more minutes. That's when I throw up my hands and give it all a rest for 24 hrs! Then I can start over fresh. Hope you have fun this weekend!

If it wasn't for the help we've been given, there's no way we'd be renting the house on the hill! That said, if my husband hadn't treated the help that was provided with full respect and used it to the best of his abilities, we wouldn't be renting the house on the hill.
To whom much is given, much is expected. We all know that's truth.
Don't worry. I don't always inspire the imagination toward clarity. Lots of the time I do leave people wondering as I wander. It's a guaranteed promise to all who follow me around or bump into me ;-)
