ULOG 46: I'm In! My SteemMonsters Starter Pack is Open
I have just opened my first starter pack of cards for @steemmonsters and thank you to @braaiboy for the contest I won them in. This was his "Meaty Mondays" Contest a few weeks back.
I wanted to have a starter pack in order to get the upvote from steemmonsters when I write posts (like this one) for their tag. You cannot get that vote without the starter pack and I was not about to buy one. I have written a few steemmonsters posts even though I do not play, and I am all about the votes here on steem.
Thank you very much @braaiboy! I love your contests and even more now.
So what did I get? According to my son @bxlphabet I got the exact same thing everyone else gets in a starter pack.
This does not seem right to me. EVERYONE gets the exact same cards on Day One? How many cards are in this game? Shouldn't there be a mix in the new packs? Hmm...
Here is what I got and my first impressions. I'm also telling what my favorite card is for each color since @bxlphbet suggested that idea.
I have 30 cards
- 18 common
- 12 rare
- 5 of each color
The Red Cards
- All about fire
- Everyone has Star 1 after their names
- Everyone has a blue circle number on the top left
- Malric Inferno is the Summoner and so is different from the others
- The other 4 cards have three additional numbers on their photos which appear to be jigsaws, claws and hearts.
- Random icons are on the bottom panels of the cards.
- My Summoner is a +1 Jigsaw.
- Blue fire circles mean rare and two of these cards are.
My Favorite Red Card
Giant Roc - due to the elephant he is carrying.
From now on I am just telling what is different on the cards. They seem to be standard for all colors in many respects.
The Blue Cards
- All about water
- In addition to the jigsaws, claws and hearts, a couple of these cards have shield icons too.
- Alric Stormbringer is the Summoner and also is a +1
My Favorite Blue Card
Water Elemental - very inventive creation and makes sense to the theme.
Also
Crustacean King - to remind me of my son since his nickname was Lobster in elementary school.
The Green Cards
- Green is Earth
- Lyanna Natura is the Summoner
My Favorite Green Card
Stonesplitter Orc is actually the one I do not like the least. I'm not a fan of this group. Looks not earth-like at all.
The White Cards
- White is Life
- Tyrus Paladium is the Summoner
My Favorite White Card
Silvershield Knight - least whimpy of the bunch.
The Black Cards
- Black is Death
- Zintar Mortalis is the Summoner
My Favorite Black Card
Haunted Spider - least disturbing to my peace
The Grey Cards
- These are "Neutral" cards
- They have no Summoner
My Favorite Grey Card
Elven Cutthroat - Very cute! Good attitude
The Summoners all together
My favorite of the Summoners is Malric Inferno. The color is very good and the flames look excellent. My least favorite of the Summoners is Lyanna Natura. She looks like she needs medication or is already on some.
Conclusion
That was interesting. Overall, Blue is my favorite color here and black is my least favorite. I still have no idea how to play the game will be unlikely to ever find out.
However I am very glad to be in the club now and will pay more attention to what goes on there. Now when I write posts, I will get the fat monsters vote with gratitude.
What will I write posts about? Contests! I win a lot of cards and often that comes with sbi or steem too. Sometimes I write about contest success and sometimes just round ups of contests for you.
And all my cards I win go to my son. You should get your mom on steem and she can win cards for you!

Oh, you are faster and more modern as I am. So no need to play? I once joined a contest but was asked what my player name was and not playing yet. Doubt I can because of my connection. Perhaps @anouk.nox can tell you? She started and is great at explaining things. There are some free writers playing too.

So cool! I am in the steem monsters discord group, but I have never managed to get started with the whole game. I guess Its just hard enough trying to keep up with everything else, I don't know if I could make time for that too...

If I did not win the cards, I would not be in either. I do know some people spending a lot of time and money on it though. When I was getting authorized to post yesterday I noticed that one of the discord rooms is reserved for people who have bought 500+ packs!!!! Holy cow! I plan to buy zero packs lol.
