Ulog #21 - WTF Am I Doing Here?

in #ulog6 years ago (edited)

No baby yet, but I did get to spend the day with my grandsons!

I have to admit, while I was there I was kinda stewing about something. WTF am I doing on Steem? What am I achieving? What am I doing wrong? What am I doing right? How can I do better?

The answers exist, written for all to read and posted on the platform. You know the posts I'm talking about, "Comment always and post often...", "If you do xyz this will happen...". I mean it's a proven method, right? Or is it? How do you weave yourself into this formula? Now that's the $1,000,000 question.

I always hear people talking about showing your "sparkle" and getting out of your comfort zone. Yes, this is good advice if you know what your "sparkle" is. I don't think I've figured mine out yet, at least not how to express it in a way that appeals to the masses.

The one thing about Steem that will always keep me here: I am not alone.

I see many of us experiencing this same hurdle and instead of seeing you quit, you show me awesomeness, eventually.

Playing with FaceRig videos in my ulogs has been fun but I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea what I'm doing. LOL!! Sometime in the future I'll have a use for them but not right now. Most people are busy, trying to get through friends' posts, P.Y.P.T, manual curation, etc. It takes time to sit and listen to a video when honestly we can read a post much faster. I get it.

Then there's the networking aspect. WOW! Some of us are used to running in much smaller circles than others. So again, that takes time and tons of self-affirmation. Eventually, even the introverts build relationships and begin to thrive. I can see it all laid out before me but the path has so many bends and distractions. It's certainly not a "Point A" to "Point B" type of journey.

I can feel something bubbling, (no, it's not gas) so I'll keep exploring. Yes, I almost finished this off with a fart joke but then stopped myself. Should I have let that one out? Or was I right to hold it in?

“Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit.” – Conrad Hilton

It's been a long day. Maybe this was the rambling of a mad woman, a Steemian or maybe a mad Steemian. I'll decide tomorrow!

Until next time friends...

you're doing what is good there @artemisnorth. One of the beauties of a platform like this is you really don't need to do what you do for mainstream appeal.

You try things out, experiment, discard what doesn't suit you, expand on what does. It's more about your own voice and expressing it. The audience will likely show up from unexpected sources but will stay for authentic you. And you are authentic.

^^ What she said.

You two sisters are amazing, just sayin'.

Thanks sis....that certainly one way to put it!

If it makes YOU laugh and Happy DO THAT. All else chuck out the window.
Don't conform to what you think you need to be. We LOVE YOU....the swearing, paddling, knitting, funny, person you are.

I'm so glad you're here. What you're doing here is making the world a better place because you absolutely make my day better every time I talk to you!

Honestly, all that stuff is important: the posting quality content, the networking, the commenting, the being you and having fun (definitely that last part), and the finding your tribe so you know you're not alone... Keep at it. I'm glad you're here.

You are such a ray of sunshine!! Thank you so much for your support and your "tribeship".....

Raises hand - I know, I know what your sparkle is!! It is you. Being you. Exactly and honestly you. You are one of the loveliest, sparkliest and most inspiring people I have met on here.

I know I'm a newbie- but all I can advise it to go down the same route I'm trying out... to enjoy the journey... every step of it. Who knows what or where that final destination, that point b is- but does it really matter if we've lived the best of lives getting there?

You deserve to be making much more than this, and have every reason to be frustrated. :( A few months ago, I was getting around the same amount as this post and was desperately using resteem services and bidbots to cover it up every time my post failed. Then I wrote about a painful trial our family was going through, and the silver lining was that I was noticed. It can happen to you too! Don't give up! Much love <3

Thanks so much @snowpea! It'll get there...I just have to keep my eyes open. I read about what you went through and OMG! You are a strong Lady and the perfect example of persistence!

YES! Keep that attitude going! :D

Sometimes I think what I went through was hard, but I'm compelled to mention a couple of steemians here who are going through some really serious trials. Talking about cecicastor and fitinfun - they are in crisis situations, in desperate need of support right now, and they need to get out of the countries they're in. Wish Steemit would pull together for them. Kinda off topic there lol but people need to know so I drop the info when I can.

Well...

... a little bird told me about your curation work and recommended I get in touch. Please read this article about my MAP Curator Trail. For me it is particularly important to support those whose work may go "under the radar". Any questions, please ask, or get in touch on Discord.

Thanks so much @rycharde! I will definitely be in touch.
