🎡 Europe - Weekly Round-Up #8

in #travelfeed6 years ago
TravelFeed is a project by @jpphotography, @rimicane, @for91days and @wanderlass. We are passionate travelers who met each other on Steemit. Read our intro!

Prepare for a history lesson on this week's Europe Travelfeed posts! @travelshots introduces a new travel destination in Slovenia, but it's not really new as it is Slovenia's oldest city. Take a look at the unknown yet scenic landscape of PTUJ in Slovenia. Meanwhile, @barge takes us to Eastern Europe in the year 1994. His travel diary has kept those memories alive in this personal and raw experience of Poland before tourism was developed. Finally, @saunter talks about the recent history of Liberland's independence. But it's more than just history, check out his plans to enter this microstate and his personal story of Libertarian Settlement Activism.

Three BEST posts for Europe

A quick recap - the post rewards of this curation post will be distributed as follows:

  • Half of the SBD post rewards will be paid out to the winning entries (please, expect a seven-day wait);

PTUJ - Slovenias oldest City
written by @travelshots

Today it's about a small town that you should definitely explore when you're in Slovenia. Ptuj, the country's oldest city, is located in the historical region of Lower Styria, only a few kilometres from Slovenia's second largest city, Maribor.

1994 | September 25 to 27 | Part 9 – Poland

written by @barge

I wonder how genuine my own feelings are. On the way here I leaned out of the window and tried to picture in my mind the Jews on the trains as they arrived, their last few sights of freedom. It really is moving, much more so than Dachau. I'm glad there is no obvious attempt to evoke emotion through superfluous words and labels. It speaks for itself – the rooms full of old boots, cases, artificial limbs, utensils, clothes, even hair; the orders from various SS factions, the death of hope!

Hitchhiking to LIBERLAND.
My Little Story of Libertarian Settlement Activism

written by @saunter

While hitchhiking towards Liberland I truly didn't know what to expect. I hadn't had an idea who's gonna be there, who those people would be and what they were actually doing there. The curtain covering the Great Unknown, however, tempted too much with its vivid color of adventure and atypicality of the whole project. A few hours after sending an e-mail with an announcement of my visit I got a positive answer - I may come, and I will be greeted by Liberlandias!
