Walk with me - Villa Charlottenfels

in #travelfeed6 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago I read about #wednesdaywalk challenge held by @tatoodjay. I told him I would join the challenge the week after. Well, I haven't managed until now and I believe it's time to change it.

Please join me on my walk to Villa Charlottenfels. This is my second time I will visit this place even though it's just about 5 minutes walk from our home. We never walk in that direction but it is a beautiful place and I thought it's a perfect spot for the challenge.

After I've entered the complex I could enjoy a few stunning views of Schaffhausen.

I know there should be up to 10 goats but I've only managed to see one of them.

The path to the villa is very enjoyable and lined by trees.

Villa Charlottenfels

Villa Charlottenfels was build between 1850 - 1854 by Heinrich Moser who constructed the Moserdamm in Schaffhausen (you can read more about the dam here)

The villa was named after his wife Charlotte, whom he married in 1831.

She died in a carriage accident in 1850 so she never got to live in the house.

Their son Henri Moser donated the Charlottenfels to the community Neuhausen for the purpose of setting up an agricultural winter and housekeeping school. In 1925, the agricultural school of the canton of Schaffhausen was established.

Today is the property available to public educational institutions including the agricultural school.

The area is open to public but I was not able to enter the house. I could however enter this outside corridor and get some nice views.

Can you see some people swimming in the river? Let me tell you they are about 20 minutes walk from the biggest waterfall in Europe. People still enjoy going to water so close to the waterfall but the current is so strong that they mainly just float. I've seen a few men swimming against the current and even though they put all their effort to swim against it they just kept swimming without moving forward 😊

There is a small park behind the villa.

The route is very educational as you can learn about all the plants and trees. There are signs with a name of each plant.

A tunnel called Galgenbucktunnel is being built right under the Charlottenfels. It should be finished by end of 2019.

Let's go back to the complex. I've noticed so many bees flying around and then I understood why 😊 Look at this amazing bee hives that they have here!

I didn't dare to come closer than this.

In front of the villa there is a rose garden. It's surrounded by meadow flowers.

There are more than 90 various types of roses. Coming at the beginning of August means that there are not that many left but I will come back earlier next year to see all of them.

I can imagine the garden is much more beautiful in June but I liked it even now.

You live in such a lovely place! I bet those gardens really pop in the spring time, but like you said there is still plenty of beauty even now. I love places that have signs for the plants, as well. It's nice to learn a little bit while you enjoy nature. Glad you were able to join in the challenge and share your sights with us! :)

I'm really lucky to live here. I can't even imagine to live in a big city. I'm also glad I could finally manage to join! 😊 Thank you for stopping by Katie! ❤

I'm with you, I like living where there is still plenty of nature. We are a pretty close drive to downtown Atlanta, but far enough away to still have lots of opportunity to connect with nature. I'm sure you will have plenty of beautiful scenery to share on future Wednesdays!

So beautiful and green. I also wanted to say Happy Swiss National Day!

Thank you Sara! How come that you know about that? I wanted to mention it in the post but I changed my mind at the end 😊

You mentioned it on my 4th of July Parade post.

That is right! Oh girl, you have a good memory!!! 😊

Wow this was an awesome walk @delishtreats. The views of the river are amazing and I love that bridge. It stuck in my mind from previous post of yours so it was great to see it popping up again. You know what though now I REALLY want to see a photo of the waterfall you mention, it must be absolutely EPIC!
The ordered rose garden was nice looking and the roses must smell gorgeous but that wild flower meadow patch was truly spectacular, the colours and shapes and grassiness is just the BEST😍The bee hives are such an intelligent and welcome part of the area too. Without bees there would soon be no flowers and fruit to enjoy. They are one of our MOST precious resources on the planet to be encouraged and helped to spread as much as possible.
Happy National Switzerland Day to you by the way. You are such a shining example of what makes Switzerland great as is the beautiful scenery you treat us to on walks like this.
I shall never grow tired of admiring the views in Switzerland - it is truly magnificent, thank you Martina. Another great triumph of your blogging skills.....ps- remember to photograph the waterfall when you get an opportunity.☺️💚🌈🌴🦋💛

When I read your comments I'm always so sad that my VP is only 0.01!!! I'm looking forward when it's gonna be higher and I'll be able to reward you for your kind words! :)

I actually posted a couple of photos of waterfall at the beginning of my journey here: https://steemit.com/travel/@delishtreats/rhine-falls-the-biggest-waterfall-in-europe but as it's just a short post I will do another one and include close ups too.

I also loved the flower meadow! So many colors!

The bee hives are very important in the area and I'm sure that these bees don't only stay in the complex but they support wider area. I didn't dare to get closer as I don't know if I'm allergic to bee stings and didn't want to risk it :)

Thank you my dear! We had amazing fireworks yesterday but I don't have any photos to share as for some reason I thought it would be today. I'm lucky to have a great view from our terrace but it was not ideal to take photos. Next year I'll be better prepared :)

I will bring you more and more views of Switzerland. I will be spending more time at home now so will travel within the country :)

Thank you SO much again for your sweet words! And I will show you more of the waterfall soon :)

Beautiful 😍 it looks like a lovely area for an afternoon stroll. The colour of that river is insanely beautiful! I'd love to get back to Switzerland some day soon. So many places to visit, so little time!

It's beautiful here :) You should definitely come, there are so many places to see in Switzerland. I've been here for over 7 years and haven't seen too much yet! The water here is mesmerizing. Rhine is my favorite river!

Excellent walk, I really liked it!

Thank you for stopping by! :)

I to wouldn’t go to close to those bee HIves, I used to be allergic to Bee Stings, not sure if I astill am Havign been stung for years but I wouldn’t risk it

Glad you were able to Join Wednesday Walk thank you tip!

Thank you for checking out my article! And also thank you for the tip! :)

Many people are allergic to bee stings here as well. My uncle has to always have his medicine with him just in case as his allergy is so strong that he could die. Amazing what such a tiny insect can do to the human body :)

Its just one of many ways nature shows how amazing and powerful it can be
