Travel Digest

#1 Tales of the Urban Explorer: Rock Nook Mill by @slobberchops

As we started to make our way back to the access point I noticed a figure moving at the opposite end of the floor space. It was a teenager around 19 years of age or so and he appeared not to have noticed us. Perhaps he was a fellow explorer? It really didn’t matter to me at this point. Disappointed at not being to gain access to the other floors we left and scrambled up the bank on to the road. We then saw four teenagers exit behind us a few minutes later with a strong aroma of weed, one carrying an air rifle. They did not seem interested in us, but I engaged them in conversation.

#2 My California - East Fork with my cousin by @derekrichardson

My cousin came to visit me from Northern California and he wanted to go backpacking so I decided to take him up to the East Fork of the San Gabriel river! I showed him around the first 5 miles of the trail, showed him a bit about prospecting and running a sluice box, and introduced him to some of the other prospectors in the canyon.

#3 Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, the Upper Reaches. by @minismallholding

Water sprinklers were coming off and on in various parts of the park while we were there, so we had a bit of fun trying to dodge them as we made our way along the paths. Timing was everything. I wasn't always successful, so I'm glad it was just water and not lasers or arrows! With the addition of water, this dry climate can host a fair variety of plants it normally couldn't. Little streams appear to funnel off the excess.
