Real Life Captured #28: Quito Ecuador Part Three (15 photos)

in #travel7 years ago

My steemit friends! Here we are back on the streets of Quito Ecuador. One thing you'll notice in these photos is that everyone is seemingly trying to made a buck. It may not be an easy life, but around the world, rich and poor people generally work hard to get by.

One thing I love about lesser developed countries which comprise about 80% of the world is that they are not overrun with corporate interest. When everyone is working for a corporation like Wal-mart, McDonalds, or Microsoft it really waters down society and culture.

This is part of why I named these series of photos "Real Life Captured". Working at Best Buy as a sales clerk is not a reality or opportunity for most people around the world. Making money for so many has a direct correlation to food, culture, and tackling life's responsibilities head on. It's all very real!

Life for some may be selling apples on the street and Kichwa is your native language; or selling homemade ice-cream the same way your grandmother did 60 years ago. Maybe you own a store and have hired a kid to stand on stilts handing out flyers.

These people are all their own boss, small time entrepreneurs, and to me this is as real as it gets! Now let's have another look at the real lives of the people of Quito Ecuador!

another great and interesting post.

Great travel post

Good point about the immediacy of more physical, person-to-person labor - it's always felt weird earning money by typing things on a screen/processor that makes things happen on other screens/processors.

Totally agree. Good to see you enjoying my blog hope to see you around more often. Thanks for stopping by! -Dan

Congratulations, Your Post Has Been Added To The Steemit Worldmap!

very good post ! excellent photos . congratulations and thank for sharing

Definitely on my list, and I am in total agreement about the lack of corporate presence. It simply creates a much more authentic atmosphere and culture. It's a big piece of why the US pretty much lacks a culture.

Exactly. Great comment. Thanks for stopping by! -Dan

I did not know you had a hotel. And, I saw some empanadas, yum.

I noticed Dan's hotel too! I wonder what he charges for a night and if it's as nice and cheap as some of the hotels he has reviewed here on Steemit.

You know what next time I'm in Quito I'm going to stay there and do a review on it! Good to see you here my friend!

Ha Ha. Neither did I! Here's an idea for your blog. Maybe you could do a cultural series. Just do food from Morocco for example or something....or not...just a thought. Thanks for stopping by Gringa!
