NIAGARA FALLS - Probably the most beautiful National Border you can imagine [EN/DE]

Hello dear Steemians! Meanwhile I have returned home to Austria, but of course I would like to tell you about the last stop of my trip to Canada and it's not the kind of place you visit on the side. The Niagara Falls are one of the most popular attractions in North America with approximately 18 million visitors per year.

Hallo Liebe Steemianer! Ich bin mittlerweile wieder zuhause in Österreich angekommen, möchte euch aber natürlich noch von der letzten Station meiner Reise nach Kanada erzählen. Es handelt sich dabei ja nicht gerade um einen Ort den man mal so nebenbei besucht. Die Niagarafälle gehören mit ungefähr 18 Millionen Besuchern pro Jahr, zu den beliebtesten Sehenswürdigkeiten in ganz Nordamerika.

If you travel to Toronto, an excursion to this natural landmark is an absolute must anyway. After a two hour bus ride, you arrive in Niagara Falls. In Canada as well as in the USA the village, which is located directly at the falls, has this name.

Wenn man nach Toronto reist, gehört ein Ausflug zu dieser Natursehenswürdigkeit sowieso zum absoluten Pflichtprogramm. Nach einer zweistündigen Busfahrt, kommt man bereits in Niagara Falls an. Sowohl in Kanada, also auch in den USA trägt die Ortschaft, die sich direkt an den Fällen befindet, diesen Namen.

The Canadian Niagara Falls is designed entirely for tourism. If you want to, you can spend a lot of money here for the many additional attractions like the Skylon Tower, the Skywheel, an IMAX cinema in which a 3D film about the falls is shown (can this be more exciting than admiring the falls in nature? 😉), as well as numerous shopping centres, casinos and luxury hotels. Fortunately, visiting the Niagara Falls themselves is free.

Das kanadische Niagara Falls ist ganz auf den Tourismus ausgelegt. Wenn man das möchte, kann man hier für die vielen Zusatzattraktionen wie den Skylon Tower, das Skywheel, ein IMAX Kino in dem ein 3D Film über die Fälle gezeigt wird (kann das spannender sein als die Fälle in natura zu bewundern? 😉), sowie zahlreichen Einkaufszentren, Kasinos und Luxushotels, sehr viel Geld ausgeben. Zum Glück ist die Besichtigung der Niagarafälle selbst, kostenlos.

Of course I focused on the main attraction, but I consciously booked a hotel that was only a ten-minute walk away from the falls, to be as flexible as possible.

Natürlich konzentrierte ich mich auch auf die Hauptattraktion, buchte aber bewusst ein Hotel, das nur einen zehnminütigen Spaziergang von den Fällen entfernt lag, um möglichst flexibel zu sein.

The Niagara Falls consist of two parts, the smaller American Falls, which are entirely located in the USA, and the huge Horseshoe Falls, through which the border with Canada runs.

Die Niagarafälle bestehen aus zwei Teilen, den kleineren American Falls, die sich zur Gänze in den USA befinden und den gewaltigen Horseshoe Falls, durch die die Grenze zu Kanada verläuft.

I must say, I am very happy that I was on the Canadian side. Of course a visit of the US site is certainly fascinating too, but the view from the Canadian side simply has a much better angle, especially for taking photos.

Ich muss sagen, ich bin sehr glücklich, dass ich auf der kanadischen Seite war. Natürlich ist auch ein Besuch der US-Seite sicher faszinierend, aber die Aussicht von der kanadischen Seite hat einfach den viel besseren Winkel, vor Allem zum Fotografieren.

It's an incredible feeling to stand in front of the Horseshoe Falls with their drop height of 57m. The sound of the falling water masses, the huge spray clouds, you can literally feel the power of nature here.
With the appropriate wind direction, the spray is blown directly into the face, which on this day with up to 29°C and bright sunshine was almost pleasantly refreshing.

Es ist schon ein unglaubliches Gefühl, vor den Horseshoe Falls mit ihrer Fallhöhe von 57m zu stehen. Die Lautstärke der stürzenden Wassermassen, die riesigen Gischtwolken, man spürt hier förmlich die Kraft der Natur.
Bei entsprechender Windrichtung, wird einem die Gischt schon mal direkt ins Gesicht geweht, was an diesem Tag mit bis zu 29°C und strahlendem Sonnenschein geradezu angenehm erfrischend war.

I particularly enjoyed the evening atmosphere at the falls. I didn't regret spending the night here, because the view at dusk was really unique and I got some pretty decent shots. A special moment was when suddenly a blood-red moon appeared directly behind the falls - as if the scenery wasn't impressive enough already.

Besonders schön fand ich die Abendstimmung an den Fällen. Ich bereute es nicht, hier zu übernachten, denn die Aussicht in der Dämmerung war wirklich einmalig und mir gelangen ein paar ganz anständige Aufnahmen. Ein besonderer Moment war, als plötzlich ein blutroter Mond, direkt hinter den Fällen aufging - als wäre die Szenerie nicht schon beeindruckend genug.

Even at night it is difficult to part with the sight of the falls, which are illuminated beautifully, alternately in bright colours then.

Auch Nachts kann man sich nur schwer vom Anblick der Fälle trennen, die dann wunderschön, abwechselnd in bunten Farben beleuchtet werden.

Oh, what a beautiful week it was in Canada! I actually had only sun and midsummer temperatures every day. All this time I didn't see a single drop of rain. At the moment it is also very warm here in Austria and therefore I will visit a beautiful place in my home country next week. Of course I will tell you about it again. Ach, was war das für eine wunderschöne Woche in Kanada! Ich hatte tatsächlich jeden Tag nur Sonne und hochsommerliche Temperaturen. Die ganze Zeit über sah ich keinen einzigen Regentropfen. Sommerlich warm ist es zur Zeit auch hier in Österreich und deshalb werde ich nächste Woche einen traumhaft schönen Ort in meinem Heimatland besuchen. Selbstverständlich werde ich euch auch wieder davon berichten. Erstmal wünsche ich euch aber ein schönes Wochenende!
