30 Stories - Twentyone - SUNSETS

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hi fellow travellers,

Today I got inspired by all those beautiful sunset and sunrise pictures on Steemit. Personally I am more of a sunset guy than a sunrise one, I hardly ever make it out of bed early enough to see the sun rise (except when there is fresh snow, but that is only during winter) and I was scrolling through my pictures of this summer to find the best one and I came across so many that it was too hard for me to choose just one, so I chose four of them. They all have their own story and I hope you like them.

HARDANGERVIDDA

If somebody would force me to choose just one out of these four, this would probably the one. This was taken at the end of one of my solo hikes this summer and was such a magical moment. It was one of those days where I couldn't get enough of hiking and did around 26km of hiking on the Hardangervidda plateau. Normally I should have returned back to the bus at around 7pm, but my instincts told me to stay up the hill and wait for the sun to set. This picture was taken at 11.30pm and was a moment I will never forget.

ASGARD FJORD

This picture is taken from the garden of a friend of mine who lives somewhere remote in the fjords in Norway. It was one of those sunsets where the light was just breathtaking. The nice thing about this one, was that it was the middle of the summer and at that time period sunsets in Norway literally last for hours, because the sun sets sooo slooow.

SOMMEROY

This sunset was at the end of the summer in the North of Norway and the window to watch it get a lot shorter than the rest of the summer. This was our camping spot for the night and I kind of knew I needed to get there in time, we had to drive from Tromso and it was quite clouded when we left, but I somehow felt that at the coast there could be a chance to watch a nice sunset. Never did I expect to be this beautiful, these were without a doubt the most pink clouds that I have ever seen. I was so happy to witness this, I can still remember that night as if it was yesterday!

ASGARD FJORD THE SECOND TIME

I wasn't sure to include this one, because it is sort of taken from the same place as the second picture. However I wanted to show how different the same spot can look like on another day.

NATURE, AND ESPECIALLY SUNSETS AND CLOUDS HAVE SUCH A POWERFULL EFFECT ON ME, WHICH OF THE FOUR PICTURES DO YOU LIKE BEST?

Cheers!

PS: For those who don't know me, I live in a converted schoolbus with my girlfriend, my dog and my two and a half year old daughter Fenna. This summer we spend four months in Norway with our hostel on wheels (which you can join) and these pictures tell the tales of our most relevant experiences. I changed my 30 day challenge's title into 30 stories, because of the feedback of @geekgirl, she made me realise that my life is quite different from the regular daily 9-5 routine and that I can share some more insights into how we spend our days. As a side-note I must say that I am still quite proud that I am persisting to write daily for 30 days straight.
