Impressions from Rep. South Africa part II / Impressionen aus der Rep. Südafrika Teil 2

Dear Steemians,
this is part II from my travel post about South Africa where I was back in 2006. While the first part was about Cape Town and the coast, this is about the safari we did. Starting point was a resort called "The Palace of The Lost City" near the Pilanesberg national park. It was quite extravagant.

dies ist Teil 2 meines Reiseberichts über die Rep. Südafrika, von 2006. Während der erste Teil von Kapstadt und der Südküste handelte, geht es hier um den Nationalpark Pilanesberg, wo wir eine Safari machten. Untergebracht waren wir im "The Palace of The Lost City" - ein ziemlicher Luxus für uns damals.

In the hotel area there were tame monkeys but surprisingly they really behaved and were not annoying.
Im ganzen Hotelbereich gab es zahme Affen, die sich aber überraschend unaufdringlich verhielten - gut erzogen!

While on a shopping tour, we saw this strange guy strolling around which we soon called the "egg man". He wanted to get payed for taking pictures of him (what we didn´t do).
Während einer Einkaufstour fiel uns dieser seltsame Mann auf. Der "Eiermann", wie wir ihn bald nur noch nannten, wollte für Fotoaufnahmen bezahlt werden, was wir aber nicht taten.

Nicely put, but the message is clear.
Schön formuliert - die Botschaft ist eindeutig.

In the safari (photos only, no shootings!) we didn´t see any leopards (they are shy and masters of disguise, and we didn´t have much time (just half a day), but nevertheless it was a great experience!
In der (Foto)Safari sahen wir zwar keinen Leoparden (die sind sehr scheu und gut im Verstecken und wir hatten ja nicht lange Zeit (insg. ein halber Tag)), aber es war trotzdem ein tolles Erlebnis!

We were told that elephants like to stay on 3 legs only, it is a sign that they are relaxed. In the zoo I have never seen them in that way.
Uns wurde gesagt, dass Elefanten gerne auf 3 Füßen stehen, ein Zeichen, dass sie entspannt sind. Im Zoo habe ich sie noch nicht so gesehen.

My highlight was the baby rhino which together with his mom/dad decided to cross the street directly in front of us!
Mein Highlight was das Baby-Rhinozeros, das mit seinem Elternteil beschloss, die Straße genau vor uns zu überqueren.
