Exploring Melbourne - Alfred Nicholas Gardens in the Dandenong Ranges

I think there are a few countries in the world where you can get away without using a car. Japan is fairly well connected transport wise, so you can often travel around the country quite easily using a combination of buses, trains and planes and not feel like you've missed out of any gems. I would say that it's a completely different experience travelling by car though. I've been lucky enough to travel by car in the rural areas of Japan and it was quite eye opening, you can immerse yourself in the nature in a completely different way and appreciate the true aesthetic of Japan. Sometimes the image that is painted to the tourist in the city is very far from the true reality and origins or many of the people living in Japan.

In Australia I always think it's best to get a car and explore, you find some beautiful places outside of the city. I think Australia is like America in the regard that the area is so wide that it's impossible to see it by foot or using any other transport. It would just take too much time and would be a lot of hassle. Me and friend decided to explore the Dandenong Ranges which is just outside of Melbourne. The first area we explored was the Alfred Nicholas Gardens that's part of the Burnham Beeches Estate.

The Alfred Nicholas Gardens are known for their picturesque waterfalls, water features and its iconic ornamental lake and boathouse. Interestingly Alfred Nicholas and his brother George developed the Aspro painkiller formula, later purchasing the land in 1929 and extending the size of the property to 13 acres. I decided to capture a few shots of the gardens for my followers on Steemit. I was especially drawn to the large beautiful trees and the texture in the wood. So I hope you like these photos and will visit Dandenong Ranges if you're ever in Melbourne. Enjoy.
