One Of The Joys Of Going Away - A Nice Hotel

in #travel7 years ago
One of the things that can add greatly to the enjoyment of a trip away is a good hotel. The Craig-y-Dderwen Riverside Hotel in Betws-y-Coed (pronounced bet-si-co-ed), Wales, was our hotel for a brief stay in North Wales a few weeks ago.

At our time of life we are fortunate enough to be able to splash out occasionally on a little bit of luxury.

This former private house was built by a wealthy factory owner in 1890 as a retreat from the pressures of business. The composer Elgar also spent a lot of time here.

Our room had a four poster bed and a balcony with a view over the river and gardens.

There was even a hot-tub on the balcony but it was far too cold to use it!

After a day spent exploring the countryside of North Wales it was nice to be able to relax in the pleasant surroundings of the hotel and enjoy a good meal in its lovely restaurant.

Spoiling ourselves like this is something we don't do that often but it is nice once in a while.
