Good day Itinerants all over the world!

I will be sharing one of the best things to do if you happen to visit the "City of Island Adventures" which is Surigao City, Surigao del Norte Philippines. It's the official City of Surigao which is located at the north-easternmost tip of Mindanao in the Philippines and the capital of the province of Surigao del Norte. It is also the gateway to Mindanao if you do like to visit other destinations in Mindanao by sea. It's really a good thing to research more about the place since you might be doing your side trips in the City before going anywhere else.

You can enjoy an overlooking view of the famous beach in Surigao City by doing the 300 steps challenge going uphill. It's famous for tourist and locals on weekends. This is a perfect activity for people seeking an extreme activity and also do exercise at anytime of the the day. I personally like the place because aside from I'm a self-confessed trekker and nature lover, I also like the serenity of the place. You can only see the perfect view of the beach, birds chirping, bumping of the waves and swinging of trees.

The place is well-maintained and developed by the government and locals. There they have a bench where you can relax after a stringent and tiring way going up. It's also the best spot to have the beach and ocean view pictures taken.

It's also good as a family activity. It's not that dangerous though, you just have to watch your steps carefully and give an eye to the kids. In the Philippines, there we say that "the family that does adventure together stays together"

Some says that the place is ruined by businesses and beach resorts owners and tourists from different provinces or countries by not bothering cleaning the mountain and throwing of the trashes in the area. But based on my observation when we went there, the place was actually clean and green maybe it just so happened that sometimes they don't have time to clean the place right away due to the service level in the resorts nearby.

Good thing about it is that, on the other side of that mountain you can find the Looc beach. It's more fine and distinct compared to Mabua Pebble Beach.

HOW TO GET THERE?

From Surigao seaport, you can ride a tricycle going to "Pantalan Dos" it's a wharf or a pier. You may just ask the driver to drop you off where tricycles are lining up for "Mabua Beach" trip.
*From seaport to Pantalan dos it costs 7.00 pesos" (0.136 US Dollar)
*From Pantalan dos to Mabua Beach costs 20.00 pesos (0.390 US Dollar) per head.
*Upon reaching Mabua Beach, you may just go to the dead end of that island and look for the famous "300 steps". To hasten your search just ask the locals. They surely will help you.
*Just try to hike that 300 steps challenge and on the other side of that mountain you can find the Looc beach. It's more fine and distinct compared to Mabua Pebble Beach. Then finally there you have it, Indeed super worth the time and effort.
