A walk around Arkhangelsk - Russia!
Today i realize that is one month since i join Steemit and i thought to myself what other way to celebrate if not writing a new blog. It's not going to be a statistical blog about my activity here on Steemit like i notice some do, it's going to be about my travels around the world and the places i visit while i am working on board of a cruise ship.
Today do the weather conditions we had to change the post of call and the ship docked at Arkhangelsk in Russia. I was really excited honest to be as i been so far only in one place in Russia in Saint Petersburg. So since i never been here i book a tour organized by the ship - 9 hours tour, a little bit of a long one.
Arkhangelsk is a regional center in NW Russia, located on both banks of Northern Dvina river near its inflow into the White Sea, about 1100 km to the north of Moscow and about 1500 km northeast of Saint Petersburg.
The beauty of the place is that since had been founded in 1584 until 20th century nearly all buildings were wooden so one of the places that we visit in our tour was the Wooden Arkhangelsk Museum. Below are some photos from there.
As you can see it was a long walk but it was really great to see this wooden museum and the landscapes. I was really glad to see that here people treasure the traditions and are proud about the past. Of course there are a lot of old wooden buildings in the city as well and i photo few of them.
The photo from the beginning of the post is the monument dedicated to Peter the Great. From what i understand from our tour guide the locals from Arkhangelsk don't treasure his memory to much despite the fact that he did a lot for the city because he was the one who abandoned the place to build Saint Petersburg and this is the main reason why the region remain somehow the same like years and years before. As well Arkhangelsk is the theme of the Russian 500 rubles banknote, and walking through the embankment you can find all the sites printed on it.

Interesting region bro it sort of reminds me of some regions in the Carpathians where time stood still for hundreds of years. It's always nice when you escape the daily routine and go sightseeing and visiting new, interesting places. Keep the travel blogs coming :D
Very interesting area have to admit and i am really glad that i manage to visit this part of the world as usually the cruise lines are not having this area as part of their regular itinerary. I will keep the travel blogs coming that's for sure!
