Imagine a magical land, a world of water that you have never seen. A multi-storey park where 16 turquoise lakes flow into each other. A place where every year new waterfalls appear - a unique product of nature. Varnishes where fish banks come to shore as specially for photography, as well as butterflies and birds flying over waterfalls.

At first glance, landscapes seem unreal and leave the impression that they are modified or created on a computer. Those who have arrived here know that this park really exists. But why imagine, when can we even photograph these places? So if you arrive in Croatia, no matter if you go to the sea or just transit it, do not forget to give it a laugh for a few hours and to Plitvice - the most famous of the eight national parks of Croatia, a country where about ten one hundred of the surface has a protected status.

Thousands of people from all over the world come to visit the park during the summer season. I travel here to enjoy peace and relaxation and to enjoy something different and get away from town...

Plitvice National Park is recognized for its beauties, but especially for the crystalline lakes here. Today, more than 60 years after its inauguration, Plitvice is an inspiration for tourists, becoming one of Croatia's most important attractions.

The beauty of the Plitvice National Park dates back to the 16 lakes, interconnected by a series of waterfalls, all set amidst forests where deer, bears, wolves, wild boar and rare bird species have their habitat. The park covers an area of ​​300 square kilometers, while the lakes stretch for more than 8 km.

There is also a certain difference in altitude, the highest point is 1280 m, and the lowest is at an altitude of 380 m. The total difference between the lakes is 135 m and the largest waterfall, Veliki Slap, has a 70m fall.

The park is open daily, all year long, with a longer schedule during the summer season, usually from 07:00 to 20:00. An entrance fee is paid, representing the contribution to the maintenance and protection of the park.

What is very important is to keep in mind that swimming or unfolding of aquatic activities is forbidden throughout the park. This ban was introduced to protect and conserve the fauna and flora of the area.

The Great Waterfall, is the largest waterfall in Croatia with a length of 78 meters and is formed by the fall of the Plivice Creek from a rock. By joining the lake with the waters of the lake, the Korane River forms.

The legend says there was a drought in ancient times and people were praying for help. It is said that the Black Queen answered the prayers and rained for days until the lake was formed.
