Çanakkale, Türkiye'nin Kuzeybatısında, Anadolu'da, kendi adıyla anılan boğazın en dar kıyısında yer alan bir kenttir. Merkez ilçe nüfusu 2016 yılı verilerine göre 165.517 kişidir. İl nüfusu ise 500 bini geçtiği bilinmektedir.

Troya kalıntılarının bulunduğu il olan Çanakkale de, merkez de gezilecek yer olarak eski kordon diye anılan yerde sergilenen Truva atı heykeli, hediyelik eşyaların, Çanakkale'nin sembolik değerlerinin her türlüsünü bulabileceğiniz tarihi aynalı çarşı, Çanakkale savaşının kalıntılarının sergilendiği, canlandırmalar ile, projeksiyon gösterimleri ile savaşın adeta yaşatıldığı Deniz Müzesi, Savaşın haberleşme ağını oluşturan, boğazın habercisi Hasan Mevsuf şehitliği ve nice gezme yerleri mevcuttur.
