The #tinyartchallenge is a forum for Steemians who like tiny art and @oceansoul13 is hosting. I am currently participating in the challenge for the first time and you find the entry post --> Here . As @oceansoul13 says it might be the tiniest picture made so far I want to share some tips and the process of making my entry.

Go to the #tinyartchallenge orignial post --> Here

-===¤¤ GoT-Fan-Art -- Time lapse ¤¤===-

1000 x original speed. It is a bit slow in the beginning and I adjust the camera along the way - so wait for the end :) And sorry for the poor quality, I used a GoPro 3 I have never used before and the setup and lighting wasn't the best - learning by doing

Tips On How To Draw Tiny

Except the skill to draw, and draw portraits in particular, this is what made my tiny GoT fan art possible:

  • Use a model photo of the exact same size in high resolution as the portrait or picture you want to make. This make it possible to have the photo next to the drawing and more easily translate the values between them.

  • If you make a picture this tiny a single mistake can totally ruin the whole drawing - so extreme concentration is needed. I took a few brakes while I did this one - It took in total 2,5 hours. My tip is to have really good lighting and time to time look out a window not to tire your eyes.

  • Sharpen your pencil often - in this case I bent the 0.7 mm drafting pencil in 45% angle to the paper and stroked it on three sides.

  • Be extra, super duper loose on your hand. If you mess up, use a sharp eraser of some kind and if you mess up really bad and end up with pencil stuck in the paper and no chanse to use the ordinary eraser without messing up everything - use an electrical eraser.

  • If needed stabilize your hand with the other hand to get rid of any shaking by pressing them togheter.

  • Divide the photo in smaller squares to help getting the proportion right to minimize the risk of drawing an eye 0.1 mm of to the side and ruining the look alike feeling.

  • Bend over and come really close to see well or get yourself a magnifying glass. I used my own sight.

  • Use a grain free and hard paper - I used Daler Rowney - Heavey Weight Paper.

I hope this might help you to make even tinier pictures - it is good practise and test your limits to the maximum.

And last - I make my own tinyartchallenge-ad-on.

Rules:

In the following month
The first one to make a smaller portrait or picture than my GoT-fanart will get an award of 15 SBD from me.
It must be a similar degree of look a like
It must be pencil
Just show me the entry and I will check it out.

I make it because I am sure there is someone who can make it tinier and I would be really inspired to see if it is possible.

This is amazing. I could not even draw that normally and make it look half as good. awesome drawing and tiny. lol

Now that's impressive, it must take some real patience. The end result is absolutely worth it.

I know right! Artist to artist I salute you!

Jeezuz you work with some small tools. Do you have to be short sighted to work with these?

You might like the insanely detailed drawings of Laurie Lipton.

Your post is upvoted.

Thank you! Ordinary pen, but lots of patience. Great tip with Laurie Lipton!

Hey, I wanted to find you on chat, but couldn't...so I'm just gonna ask you here...Would you maybe like to be the sponsor for the next #tinyartchallenge? You can choose the topic that way and also be my advisor when choosing the winners...

Absolutely! I don't have too much sbd at the moment but give what I have. I would love the next theme to be - abstract patterns - but you can choose what you like :)

Wow, I'm really blessed to have such great team here on Steemit, willing to help each other! Thank you so much for your generous donation, you rock! I like the theme, do you want to make your entry before I announce the post so your art will be promoted as it will be the title photo. Fell free to do a post about it so the post will be promoted too. That's the least I can do :)

Ha ha , I don't have any such picture. Just thought it would be fun to create that. I have no time to make one for the moment but can make one and post till tomorrow if you can wait ;)

I would appreciate if you can make something special just for this contest :) Tomorrow is really ok!

What chat where you talking about? Discord?

No, about steemit chat...in the upper right corner of steemit you can see 3 little horizontal lines, when you click on them you can find steemit chat too. just log in.it's good for private communication bat for promotion too. Just never promote your stuff in general group, search for art group etc.

Great - I think you should add really clearly in the challenge post that my post is just inspiration. It doesn't have to be either a repetitive or celtic pattern - just an abstract pattern. :)

I'll post my work soon so I think they will get it :)
