Navratri the joyous time to experience the divine feminine energies ๐๐๐๐
The Festival time in India has already began, first with Ganesh Chathurthi and now Navratri which concluded on 18th.
Navratri is a 9 days festival where in each day is devoted to different forms of Goddess Durga and it concludes with the 10th day being Dussherra which holds the significance of the Good over coming the Evil. The essence of the 9 days celebrations of Navratri is all about the Feminine divinity. The 9 days are dedicated to the Goddesses who signify Strength, Boldness and Fierceness, Gentleness, Knowledge and Enlightenment. All over India this festival is celebrated with great grandeur. It's a very colorful festival. Each day also has a color ascribed to the different forms of Goddess Durga. During this festival a lot of prayer ceremonies are done and sweets are made. Everything looks colorful and grand.
In the olden days during these 9 days people use to keep awake through out the night and spend the night in devotion to the Goddess, so they used to dance and pray and chant to keep themselves awake and the culture still follows in the modern times the only difference being that now it has become more grand and more of a dancing affair. But in all terms people enjoy this festival and are in high spirits, specially the females who look forward to getting dressed up in the most colorful traditional costumes which are called as Chaniya Choli with heavy loaded accessories. A lot of them also attend dance classes to learn the special dancing steps of Navratri which are called as Garba and Dandiya (playing with the sticks)
This year was my first year to attend one of these events along with my friends and it was too much fun. I do not know these forms of dance very well so we were going all over the place but when it comes to fun and enjoyment who sees all of that. People come normally in groups and then the dance happens in a circular form and its very rhythmic. My group was trying our best to keep up to some of those dance forms and be in the rhythm with other groups.

Everyone was dancing and there were only happy faces to look around, that's the best part of these festivals. They make you forget all the worries of the world, the high energy of the place lifts up your spirits and makes you rejoice.

The best way to have a public get together. And in case you get a Bengali friend then you will enjoy the ocassion completelly. I went to kolkatta during the seventh day and was totally lost with the chaos and madness on the street. You wont belive it was like ma durga is at every footsteps. They celebrate the ocassion with complete fondness and all these nine days is like public holiday. New cloth, visiting every pandal (stage) and meeting all the known people at pandal. Whst would be better than this. Great enjoyment of 9 dsy across india.

Such a bright and colourful festival, it looks like you all did have super fun with your dancing. The group after you might have been a little more organised, but your group look to be having a much better time and enjoying yourselves which is the really important part of it all.
