The new TrueDepth camera in the iPhone X is years ahead of the Android competition
As I anxiously await the end of the month when I can finally preorder my new iPhone X, I'm constantly on the look out for more details about the tech it's going to deliver.
We already know that performance wise it can outpace laptops, and today another report came out that details just how advanced the face recognition technology in the device is.
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it's going to take Android smartphone makers around two and a half years before they will be able to replicate the TrueDepth camera that gives the iPhone X its impressive face tracking ability. You can check out the article here
This new technology is of course a key componenet of the upcoming Face ID feature that allows you to unlock your phone using your face, but it's also going to allow apps to take advantage of the technology to create all kinds of cool experiences such as the new animoji demoed during the announcement.
Check This Out!
It'll be interesting to see how well this tech performs in the wild. Knowing Apple's track record though, I'm guessing it'll be pretty impressive.
Just counting down the days.....
Woah, animoji’s are going to be a game changer. I love the pig! 🐖
