Quesney21 (Day 15): Introducing The Iron Goddess of Mercy a.k.a Tie Guan Yin (铁观音)

Tie Guan Yin (铁观音) also known as The Iron Goddess of Mercy is a type of premium Oolong Tea originated back during the 19th century in Anxi, Fujian Province.

The process of Tie Guan Yin is so complex and require a lot of expertise to get the best out of it and most companies​ kept the process in secret. Every raw tea leaves undergo​ some of this process,

  • 採青 (Pluck)
  • 晒青 (Dry Under Sun)
  • 晾青 (Cool Down)
  • 搖青 (Toss)
  • 萎凋 (Withering include Oxidation)
  • 殺青 (Fixation)
  • 揉捻 (Roll)
  • 烘乾 (Machine Drying)
  • 焙烧 (Roasting to get unique smokey flavour)

Benefits of Drinking Tie Guan Yin

Tie Guan Yin contains a ​high amount of vitamins (especially C), calcium, fluorine, iron, magnesium, manganese​, ​potassium, amino acids, polyphenols, antioxidants and other components which greatly benefit the human body if you consume it on a daily basis.

Improve Your Skin

Thanks to the high amount Polyphenols that contain in Tie Guan Yin, it relieves​ certain skin problems and had been scientific​ly proven through a Japanese study. Over 63% of patients show improvement in​ their skin condition after consuming for a month, and 54% of patients continue experienced long-lasting benefit result after 6 months.

Reduce Stress Level

One of the components​, L-theanine or known as glutamate in some similar structure found​ in Tie Guan Yin is able to keep us from feeling overly excited or stress by increasing the alpha waves activity in our brain which can usually found in relaxed mental state or during a REM sleep. Therefore, it helps us reduces stress and relax us at the same time.

Ease Digestion

Drinking Tie Guan Yin after a ​meal especially eating too much or consume oily food such as Bak Kut Teh help digestion and with the anti-inflammatory​ properties that found in antioxidants are able to fortify​ the lining with our intestine which protects​ it against​ free radicals.

It also increases​ and stabilizes​ the production of two enzymes namely amylase and lipase, which helps in speeding up the digestion of starch into sugars and break down fats in food so that our intestines are able to absorb them.

Hi @fararizky, this is not green tea. Tie Guan Yin is under the Oolong Tea family. Not sure how to explain the taste but strongly suggest you to try it hehe.
