Today, one year ago - Hoy hace un año #8: The Grand Royal Palace in Bangkok - El Gran Palacio Real de Bangkok
The trip was coming to an end, so with regret, but really looking forward to a great day, we're going to stroll through Bangkok!
El viaje estaba llegando a su fin, así que con pena, pero con muchas ganas de andar y pasar un día genial, nos vamos de paseo por Bangkok!
It was our last full day in Thailand and more specifically in Bangkok, we decided to have a good breakfast, buy 4 bottles of very cold water and start walking to go to the Grand Palace. It was a bit far, but what better way to see Bangkok than to walk from the last metro stop on the line that caught us closer to the hotel.
Era nuestro último día completo por Tailandia y más concretamente en Bangkok, decidimos desayunar bien, comprar 4 botellas de agua muy fría y ponernos a andar para ir al Gran Palacio Real. Estaba algo lejos, pero que mejor manera de ver Bangkok que ir andando desde la última parada de metro de la línea que nos pillaba más cerca del hotel.
On the way we made a stop at the Temple of the Golden Buddha (Wat Traimit), it was terribly hot but we went upstairs and saw the majestic Buddha-solid gold statue in the temple. It is really impressive, sculpted in gold and solid, weighing 5.5 tons and 3 meters in height, is the largest solid gold statue in the world, it is impressive to see it up close.
De camino hicimos una parada en el Templo del Buda de Oro (Wat Traimit), hacía un calor terrible pero subimos arriba y vimos la majestuosa estatua de oro macizo de Buda que está en el templo. Es realmente impresionante, esculpida en oro y maciza, con un peso de 5,5 toneladas y 3 metros de altura, es la mayor estatua de oro macizo del mundo, es impresionante verla de cerca.
Once we leave the temple, we continue walking until reaching the Chinatown in Bangkok, this peculiar neighborhood is just before arriving at the Royal Palace and you have to cross it to get there. I have never been to China, but I can say that it looked like I was in a neighborhood of some Chinese city, I was very impressed by all the clutter on the street and a lot of shops there.
Una vez que salimos del templo, seguimos andando hasta llegar al barrio chino de Bangkok, este peculiar barrio está justo antes de llegar al Palacio Real y hay que atravesarlo andando para llegar. No he estado nunca en China, pero puedo decir que parecía que estuviera en un barrio de alguna ciudad de China, me impresionó mucho sobre todo el desorden en la calle y el montón de tiendas que había.
After an hour and a half leisurely stroll, we arrived at the Grand Royal Palace in Bangkok, a complex of 218,400 square meters with a large number of buildings and sculptures. The heat was hellish but could not spoil the visit to the Grand Palace, something I will never forget.
Después de una hora y media caminando tranquilamente, llegamos al Gran Palacio Real de Bangkok, un complejo de 218.400 metros cuadrados con un gran número de edificios y esculturas. El calor que hacía era infernal pero no pudo estropear la visita al Gran Palacio, algo que no olvidaré nunca.

After spending the whole morning at the Grand Royal Palace, we took a taxi to the Siam Discovery Mall and went to a manga and super hero store that had not recommended shopping at the last minute. For me, the best travel shop :-)
Después de pasar toda la mañana en el Gran Palacio Real, cogimos un taxi hacia el centro comercial Siam Discovery y fuimos a una tienda manga y de super héroes que nos habían recomendado a hacer unas compras de última hora. Para mí, la mejor tienda del viaje :-)
We ate a burger (yes, you read well, a hamburger lol) and took another tuk tuk to take us to the hotel, we had to rest for the return trip.
Comimos una hamburguesa (sí, habéis leído bien, una hamburguesa jajaja) y cogimos otro tuk tuk para que nos llevara al hotel, teníamos que descansar para el viaje de vuelta.
And here ends our adventure in Bangkok, we only have the return to Madrid. A shame, but that's what happens with all the trips, which always end.
Y aquí acaba nuestra aventura en Bangkok, solo nos queda la vuelta a Madrid. Una pena, pero es lo que pasa con todos los viajes, que siempre acaban.
