HOLLER OUT Tuesday: Today It's All About Survival
Today is the day of the week that I do my weekly HOLLER OUT to other steemians who have influenced me, offered support or made a post that really spoke to me.
And today... It's ALL About SURVIVAL
The Oxford Dictionary defines "survival" as follows:
the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances
So what are some ways to survive?
- Growing your own food/having a garden/preserving food for long term use
- Learning too hunt, fish and forage
- Providing safety for home and family
- Having a (warm) shelter
- Learning new skills
- Learning to live off the land
- Protecting yourself from danger or dangerous people

- @fernowl13 has been on steemit for some now but she has some great series' posts. Her most recent one is about foraging, what to look for, how to determine its safety for consumption and for a basic healthier lifestyle. Her most recent series, food foraging 101 has some significant information about starting your journey in nature and with food foraging from the forest and parks surrounding your home.
@happilyretired is a new steemian and loves posting about books, history and how things used to be. His first post, 1860's Homesteading & Housekeepers Guide for Emigrating to Canadian Wilderness, may be short, but head over there and give him a hearty steemit hello and some encouraging words and comments!
@citizenzero has so many survival posts on their page that it's hard to pick just one! From gardening to cooking and homesteading and greenhouses; this page and the posts are not to be overlooked. The most recent gardening post was just a few days ago about protecting seedlings from various garden critters was not only so simple, but also VERY inexpensive.
@timmo3663 is not only a retired veteran but also a fiction author; his genre is centered around EMPs and other society collapsing events, but he also has some great survival posts. The other day he wrote about a preppers blog and loving they neighbor. Stop over and give him a comment and say hello!
@oilyshumblehome may not have made a homesteading or gardening post in a few days, but there is a plethora of information shared on the page. Resteems in the homesteading community are evident and frequent. The post that caught my eye was about the ultimate prepper goal from about ten days ago. Apparently she does live chats on YT also! This could be an interesting channel to tune in to one day.
