📷 Love Locks in Frankfurt am Main

Nobody really knows where the tradition of love locks comes from, but probably from Italy. It should symbolize eternal love, to attach a padlock with the names or the initials of the two lovers and possibly the date, to a railing. Since the 2000s, the number of cities where you can find bridge railings and fences covered with these locks has increased steadily. Nevertheless, they are not liked everywhere and some cities, such as Berlin or Venice, have already banned them completely.
Woher der Brauch der Liebesschlösser kommt, weiß niemand wirklich genau, vermutlich aber aus Italien. Ein Schloß mit den Namen, oder den Initialen der beiden Verliebten und eventuell noch dem Datum, an einem Geländer zu befestigen, soll ewige Liebe symbolisieren. Seit den 2000er Jahren findet man in immer mehr Städten, Brückengeländer und Zäune, die mit diesen Schlössern übersät sind. Trotzdem werden sie nicht überall gern gesehen und einige Städte, wie z.B. Berlin oder Venedig, haben sie bereits gänzlich verboten.

I was in Frankfurt am Main, but unfortunately we didn't have much time to explore and I missed the nice thing you write about. It must look phenomenal, many padlocks symbolizing eternal love 💘
I heard that something like that is in Wroclaw in Poland (a bit closer), and I wanted to hang my padlock there, but when I heard that due to bridge overload the padlocks from time to time are taken off by the managers - the whole romanticism had broken.
Yes, it's a problem at some places, because the padlocks are so heavy, in Paris there was a railing of a bridge breaking because of that a few years ago. I hope you will find a nice place for your padlock! 🙂

Das ist ein echt cooler Brauch...Das Bild hast du am Eisernen Steg gemacht? Soweit ich weiß müssen die da ganz schön viele entfernen, damit überhaupt wieder welche Platz haben.
Da finde ich das Ritual Geld in einen Brunnen zu werfen aber noch cooler... dabei verdient die Stadt wenigstens was.. wenn die das dann noch spenden.. perfekt!

wenn man aus dem frankfurter Raum kommt ist das nicht schwer =)
das ist so krass mit den Brunnen.. mich wundert, dass da nicht mehr bedürftige mal fischen gehen 🤔
