Sankofa Competition #1 Winner(s) Rewarded | Acts of Kindness: Winner Shares His Reward ❤ | Competition #2 Opens

The past week has been very exciting for me. Fulfilling, even. Preserving of African cultures and traditions have been a subject matter I'm particularly passionate about.

I found Steemit as an opportunity to push this objective, in whatever capacity, and we started the "Sankofa Creative Competition" to promote and celebrate Africa's folk traditions, starting with folk tales.

The entries dilly-dallied but they came, thanks to the #Nigeria community on here. And we got some real quality entries. Being privileged to take these entries and work with other esteemed Steemians here to select a winner, I was thrilled to be drawn into different cultural backgrounds through their folktales. And I was quick too to notice the overlapping tendencies of our different cultures, despite preceding telephone and information technology.

SO THE FIRST PLACE WINNER IS @DANTE31!

Dante is an amazing guy, he exhibited a commendable act of kindness and sportsmanship. He said he doesn't want to keep all of the prize money while the others go with nothing. He asked to receive only half of the guaranteed prize money of 10SBD. The rest should be shared to the other entrants. In addition, he also said he was going to give each entrant 1.5SBD from his payout on his entry post. Wow! What a man!

That means every participant goes away with 2.5SBD for participating. I've already transferred 1SBD to each of the other non-winners, as seen above.

Going Forward
The second phase of the competition commences with this post. The rules are largely the same, with just minor improvements.

• Make AN ORIGINAL post about an African proverb, its meaning and possible application. If you are using a proverb in vernacular, please provide an English translation for ease of assimilation. Be creative. Use humour or anything else to make an interesting read. Feel free to find inspiration here.

• Entries must be submitted before Saturday, 18:00 WAT, and link dropped as comment on this post.

• Upvote and Resteem this post to boost the payout. Prize money will be the SBD payout of this post plus a guaranteed $5 from my humble self. If anyone wants to contribute to our course and augment the reward pool, please feel free to comment.

• We will use a sliding scale to share the prize reward so that EVERYONE wins.
