#SANKOFA Creative Competition 1

What is this Competition About?
SANKOFA is an Adinkra symbol that translates to "go back and get it." And that, in addition to harnessing and rewarding the creativity of Africans on Steemit, is what this series of contests will strive to achieve.
African Folktales are an oral tradition of entertainment, carrying forward of history, and impartation of morals and lessons. Unfortunately in our bid to be "westernised" we have largely ignored this component of our heritage. This competition seeks to do its bit to salvage that.
What Are the Rules?
The rules to enter are simple. Submit an ORIGINAL adaptation of any African folk piece, be it in written story or music form. Play with the settings and characterization. Just do your best to keep the original plot of the story or the recognizable rhythm of the music.
For written entries, at least 700 words. For songs, at least one minute long.
Entries must be submitted as a fresh post on the entrant's blog and the link dropped as comment to this post. All posts must use the #sankofacomp tag and have "Sankofa Creative Competition" in its title.
Entrant MUST upvote and resteem this post to boost the payout, and thus the price money to be won.
The Price
At this stage it is a winner take all.
$10 price money is guaranteed. In addition, the winner will receive the SBD value of this post after curation rewards are calculated out. Now you see why you should resteem 😉
Note that the price money will increase in future contests, and runners up prices will be considered.
Selection Process
With a few creative volunteers from PALnet (a minnow support program), we will go through all the entries and select the best post.
We figure it won't be a level playing field if we judge by metrics like number of upvotes.

This is a really good idea and a genuinely helpful cause, I'm behind it 100%. It was only this morning's shower think, that I was contemplating if there was a way I could promote Indigenous Australian culture here on Steemit. I'm not sure if there is a way.
