Steem Poke! Pls. COMMENT here to encourage a NEW MEMBER to join Steemit!steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi guys. I've noticed the comments about encouraging new people to join and trying to support them. I decided to make the effort a personal one. Community is about Relationship. I will send this post to them after a day or so!

I may donate some Steem when they come onboard, I just don't have much lying around. I think it would be helpful. We shall see as this evolves.

--

My idea is to write posts dedicated entirely to encouraging a friend to join Steemit. - It will be a series. Ongoing.

Will you comment and share this post & encourage them to join? I will send this blog post link to them in a day or so! They can see a personal message and story about them, and that we want them!

ReSteeming/Sharing will encourage more people to comment and help "on-board" some new members and be personal about it!

Thanks.

Today's friend we will call " Peg " - name withheld for privacy /respect reasons but similar to their name! This will go directly to them in a message in about 24 hours!

And... GO! Thanks guys!

EDIT: lol -- This is a take off on an idea that @d3nv3r had where he started Steem Poking people that had not posted in awhile -- and it seemed to be good.

Sort:

Good idea. I remember when I used to watch streams on Twitch and users from other Streamers would jump into a session and "raid" it up in the chat. It was like a fun little way of getting new users who might not have a lot of visibility a jump-start in views and comments/donations/(votes on this platform).

This kind of reminded me of it. But a "poke" now and then to others is also a great idea, I am sure once they understand Steemits advantages that are provided through its tech. They will be glad you took the time to let them know about it as well. :)

Nice initiative!

I have been pondering how to implement a few ideas into one, I hope I have conveyed that in this post and idea. I think it covers ground on both sides of the #Steemit fence -- the current Members side and the side where new or PRE members live. TY sir!!

Resteemed... Brand new to the platform. and loving, hope to get many friends on board

Its always a good thing encouraging newbies as those first days are always the hardest

I was overwhelmed with everything the first week at least. True enough. TY for the comments!

Your welcome :)

I have credited you in other posts with things, this slipped my mind honestly, but it is directly related to your Steem Pokes I saw you start. I think since it was trying to focus on new people.... not members who stopped posting, that is what slipped my mind. Sorry.

If you read some of my last posts, you will see your name mentioned on things!!!

I hope you are not mad now LOL.

I think this is the most recent mention of you I can find without spending an hour!

https://steemit.com/funny/@barrydutton/meme-of-the-day-how-we-feel-powering-up-short-form-post

and I was chatting with @sextant the other day on a meme she made and mentioned I had said hi a few times thru you (story that day exempt LOL) -- and invited you guys to come visit me.

LMFAO relax guy

You only took my baby and twisted into a mess so I can no longer use the SteemPoke brand I was building, slapped your own name to it and left out the credit ya promised... I'm not mad, slightly disappointed maybe. But a d3nv3r doesnt get MAD over such things.

I don't see it like that at all. I am shocked you do.

I mentioned to you (I think the first night I saw you do this) - I thought it was a good idea, told you the name of someone who had not posted, in case you wanted to do it. You had not done it, and I think that is about 2? 3? weeks ago now.

I have been kicking around the idea ever since on how to engage people, and talking to people about why they should join. Many of them.

I don't see how taking an idea you had and I supported pretty strongly means :

1/ you cannot keep using it.
2/ I did not just "slap my name all over it" etc. I reviewed a lot of threads online where people are trying to decide how to engage new users, and put my spin on it.
3/ I explained why I think I made the oversight today on not initially crediting you, but that was explained and fixed.
4/ I have supported all your work on here, and figured you would like to do the same. Up til now, you have been a good friend to me like that. And I have always said I appreciate the support, and I mean it, still.
5/ I never thought you would be the type to say things like this, esp. after I explained what has transpired and how you were credited, provided proof even, and that does not seem good enough.
6/ I did not think you were more worried about credit, than about the community at large and new users coming to it.
7/ The person is going to read this thread, see all this, and may wonder if it is worth it.

8/ You have not even bothered to upvote this post, and support the community effort I was making so that relates to you being more upset about "your idea" than anything else and that saddens me too.

So all that said, if I called it something else, would that have made you happier? If I had not bothered with this idea at all, would that have been better?

People get upset at the smallest things now, and even when apologies are offered or things are edited or fixed , it usually never seems to be enough.

I hope people reading this incl. the person I did this for, don't get turned off, because I know some might.

Keep Steem Poking people. Just because I did this, or others do, doesn't mean you cannot, the greater good is that more people see ideas and collaborate and we get along and grow.

I have done all I know how to do with this.

Hey Barry?
Did we miss the joke Barry?
Yes we did other Barry, yes we did!

And to further make my points about how I supported this idea and try to make amends, had people that would benefit from this, and show my longish points are related to what I am saying -- here is the first Steem Poke I saw, and participated in - like I was saying on @d3nv3r's page - all my comments are there.

I still think was a great idea, so if it was yours, or you adapted it off someone else, it matters not to me, your idea that night I saw and participated in was a beaut. So thanks for that.

I think I helped out with all your Steem Poke campaigns, I don't think I missed one, here was the one from a little over 2 weeks ago where I had again done the Upvoting and commenting and Resteeming you ask for and mentioned the friend similarly who would be a good fit for a SteemPoke. I hope this shows you or others this is all a community effort and I have been active trying to help you -- and grow the community. Again, sorry if you are (clearly) upset - I did what I could to explain and fix things - I am bummed though you are upset and did not upvote this post but I will have to be OK with it.

LOL, nice. I was listening to University radio today, and they played a way back full album side concert from them, likely around when they did this! Good share man. Thanks

BARRY!!!!!!!! MY COMMENT WAS SARCASM, I HAD NO IDEA IT WOULD CAUSE THIS REACTION!
Look over the post... the full thing...
I upvoted 100%
I was the only person so far to write a dear Peg letter
and I tried to explain when you went off that it was a joke, thats why it started off with the LMFAO comment first.
Take 2 breaths, smoke a doobie... Listen to the doobies....
I'm not even disapointed

I did, I read all your comments and answered them in the context you tried to communicate. I did not want to upset you but clearly you were, from the comments you made. It was not sarcasm, you were clearly hurt or upset and you cannot just now say all that was.... in sarcasm. It wasn't and I am sorry you were upset. I felt you deserved a well thought out and sincere reply and explanation, I did not want to ignore you.

In kind, I had replied a couple mins ago to your nice comments you made, in the separate comments and kept that separate reply thread just that way-- in kind and separate. I appreciate the input.

I had an issue initially yes, without the credit you said you would post, anyone who saw your post without the credit, then saw my next SteemPoke COULD assume I stole the idea from you....
38 + people saw it without the credit, that's 38 people with the potential to assume the above mentioned assumption. Hence my reaction as to not being able to SteemPoke anymore. I don't want one person to think I stole someone else's idea...
It's too late now, those 38 + viewers are not going to return....

Edited now for you lol

Hi @barrydutton, I'm actually quite familiar with this initiative by @d3nv3r but I've got mixed feelings about it, as I've mentioned in a few of his posts. Sometimes poking people outside of Steemit is like beating a rock with a twig. I've got friends, family, and associates who won't even give it a try for various reasons: too big a learning curve, unwilling to accept digital currency as a real thing, building yet another community and following. I've tried actively recruiting but I've stopped. The only way they're going to see how valuable Steemit is, is when I post my blogs and they see I'm actually earning...and yet they still don't come. That all being said - I absolutely encourage you to try BUT focus on your content, comments and curation. Let the rest of the world weep with regret when they could have been early adopters but rejected the chance.

Dear "Peg",
I understand our friend Bionic Barry is trying to lure you into the steemit world, this is AWESOME! When Barry tells you that very real money can be made using a blogging platform he isn't full of it!
Barry is a regular contributor to the steemit world even though he is rather newish at it, he may make the odd mistake but always means well.
Come join Barry and I on steemit! You will thank yourself later
@d3nv3r

I did mention that $ side to her... but also how there would be #'s she can search and communities she can connect with -- easier than she does in some other cases. I was thinking she would find some support for some of her interests better than in some other places.

TY for the nice comments to her and about me. That is what I was going for on here.
