With this series of posts I will share the adventures of @sm-fortknox.

NOTE:

I was wanting a new account to store my gold monster cards in, so created a new account (@sm-fortknox).

• I purchased a starter kit for $10 USD using paypal.
  You can also use a credit or debit card or crypto (steem, SBD, BTC, ETH, etc.)
  • I used my affiliate link from my main account,

First things to do when purchasing a starter pack.

You will need to save all your passwords in a very secure place.

• I have an encrypted text file with all my passwords. I have this stored in a few places, including a thumb drive...
• You might also want to keep a paper copy of them...
  • You will be given the master password as you purchase the pack.
    You will hardly ever use this password!
    Do not use it for normal sign in to steemmonsters or steemit.com.
    • Well, you have to use it to sign in one time on steemit.com...
      You should read the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement, then continue...
• click on "Wallet"
  • click on "Permissions"
    • by Posting, click SHOW PRIVATE KEY.
      Copy this to your secure place.
      This is usually what you use to sign in anywhere.
    • by Active, click SHOW PRIVATE KEY.
      Copy this to your secure place.
      This is what you use to do anything with exchanging "money" (steem, SBD)
    • by Memo, click SHOW PRIVATE KEY.
      Copy this to your secure place.
      You will rarely use this...

Now that you've saved all your passwords, we can move along.

Click BATTLE!
You will be given a new quest.
I got Pirate Attacks - Win 10 ranked battles with the Water Splinter.

Click the "Ranked" button.
My Rules of Combate are Aim True
Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.
The Mana Cap today is 20.

Here's the team I put together.

After losing a few games I switched positions of Crustacean King and Elven Cutthroat.

After losing a few more games I tried a team with Cyclops.
That got me my 10th win to finish the quest.

No new cards to play with, but if I get 1 more of any of these, I'll be able to level them up.

  • A win to start with. Hurrah!
    • Crustacean King was able to repair damage done to Spineback Turtle and keep him in the game.

  • There was no way for the opponent to win this match.
    Ranged attacks do not work from the first position.

  • Paladin's special shield ability, meant the Turtle could do no damage.
  • Our double snipe attack did take out the Divine Healer, but we lost...

  • Zintar reduces melee attacks by 1, leaving the Turtle and Elven useless.
    This is a definite advantage at lower levels of the game!
  • If you are playing the Fire Splinter, Marlic will give you back the 1 melee attack Zintar steals...
  • Also note the Haunted Spirit is a self Healer.

  • Their Centaur and Fire Bettle (snipe attack) took out my healer (Crusty)
    • It's a good idea to double up attackers with both Snipe and Sneak attackers.
  • Pit Ogre stunned my Turtle.
    That combined with a +3 melee attack makes him a great tank at beginner levels.
  • My teamed up Snipers took out their Beetle.
  • Their lone Sneak attacker (Kobold Miner) took out my Centaur.
  • This team had too much fire power to defeat.

  • Their water element is a self healer.
    Plus he has +2 attack.
  • Once Crusty (my healer) falls to Centaur, it's a domino effect.
    Turtle is doomed ans so is this match...

  • My doubled Snipe attack took out their Goblin Sorcerer then their Centaur didn't last long.
  • Note their Minotaur just sitting there doing nothing.
    By the time he gets in the game, it's too late...
    It's usually best not to double upmelee attackers like that.

  • The Pit Ogre again proves to be too strong to defeat.

  • Last time we played this team we won.
  • This time the Orc retaliated and then attacked and took out my Turtle...

  • My snipers took out his healer (Crusty) and then his Pirate Captain then the Water Element.
  • Crusty kept my Turtle in the game.
  • Their Cocatrice never got to attack once.
    Doubled melee attackers don't usually work...

  • Double snipers took out their Medusa before she could do much damage.
    Double snipers won this game for us...

  • Life is the only splinter I've found that does good with a set of double up melee attackers.
    In this instance, the Knight has Inspire ability which gives all melee including this tank an extra hit point.
    So, in essence, they are in the game...

  • 2 melee attackers in the back row, doing nothing...
  • By the time Pit Ogre gets in the game, it's too late.

  • Doubled up melee attackers cost them the game...
    By the time the Orc got in the game, he was the only one left and receiving blows from all my attackers.

  • An easy win since they have the Pirate and Turtle switched where they should e.
    Turtle is a tank and belongs in position one.
    Pirate is a ranged attack which is useless in poistion one.

  • Death is too strong for water at level 1...

  • They were able to play the Golem by using Kiara which is one less mana than Tyrus...
  • The Knight gives the golem a =4 melee attack. Wow very high for a level 1 player!
    Maybe only Rexxie can compare...?

  • I took out the Pit Ogre, but it was followed up by a Giant Roc with a lot of health.

  • Adding the Cyclops to my team, let me take out Rexxie!
    Leaving a ranged attacker who can do nothing from the first position...
    Woohoo! Completed the quest

Conclusion

Today I shared the following adventures of SM-FortNox.

• We purchased a pack using paypal.
• We played several games and finished our first quest.
• We now have 5 additional cards.

  • 30 from the start pack + 5 from completing a quest.
