SteemMonsters Rumors Clarified: Can combined cards be uncombined?

I've recently saw multiple people confused about whether SteemMonster cards would become possible to uncombine/split from eachother to regain their base card equivalent. This is partially true and partially false. Let me explain:

Alpha is almost coming to an end with only about 100,000 Alpha Packs left and it ending on october 1, 2018 - no matter what, even if no more card packs will be sold. After this, a Beta period will start. During the beta period, people will be able to get Beta cards through Beta card packs & Alpha cardpacks can no longer be purchased.

Now here is where the part of uncombining comes: When you combine for example 7 Alpha cards of level 1 with 8 Beta cards of level 1, you'd get a card with a combined value of 15 cards - 7 alpha, 8 beta. This card can be uncombined to 1 Alpha card consisting of 7 level 1s & 1 Beta card consisting of 8 level 1s. These can not be uncombined any further!
