Steem Monsters Rare Card Fantasy Story Contest! // Week 5 Entry

Hey Steem Monster Fans

I thought I'd take a crack at the Steem Monsters Rare Card Fantasy Story Contest! and see if I could come up with an epic backstory for one of the characters. This week's backstory would be centred around the Zintar Mortalis, a Rare Summoner whose Element is Death.

The birth of Zintar Mortalis

It was many years before magic had been seen by mortals, the practice of spell casting had long been forgotten and those who practiced it were exiled into the outskirts of cities, living in the wilderness to fend for themselves.

While the world went on these outcasts continued to learn, practice and hone their skills. Once such man was Zintar, a purveyor of the art of magic but unlike many, his thirst for the dark art had always been present even though he hid his true desires in order to learn all he could from elders and fellow spell casters he would meet during his travels.

Spell casting however does not pay very well and to earn a keep Zintar took up work as a night watchman at a cemetery outside the city. He liked the job because nothing ever happened, no one cared to bother graves at night and he could be alone to practice his magic most nights, undisturbed.

Zintar was a lone wolf, confident in his ablitys, he preffered it that way as he felt others would only slow him down or distracting him from relentlessly mastering his craft.

However, living in a world where outcasts hang out he had come into contact with many magic enthusiasts who have begun to from factions. Those believing in good magic called themselves the life faction while those who believed in the power of black magic calling themselves the death faction.

These factions classed often, not at scale but as spell casters with egos would look to show their dominance over others it often ended in death.

Working at the grave yard Zintar was normally the one to put set up these unfortunate spell casters final resting places and this deterred his involvement in their feuds even more.

The summoning of the dark god begins

The war between the factions had begun to steadily increase in ferocity and the body count was piling up. Ego, anger and the thirst for power had driven the the high priest of the Kingdom of deathshire to disturb the balance of good and evil by summoning the dark god Arlitar.

In order to perform the ritual to resurrect Arlitar the dark faction would need the bones of fallen comrades. The death faction lead by high priest Armer made their way towards the cemetary and begun to dig up the graves of fellow dark spell casters.

Zitar heard the commotion and proceeded to investigate, when he realised what was happening he knew he had no choice but to get involved.

A scarifce was needed

Zintar did not have much time, even though he did not want to get invovled and was never servile he knew Alitar would bring about a war that would see war for hundreds of years once again.

As Armer begins the ritual he places the skulls of fallen warroirs in a circle and begins to chant. Zintar sneaks up behind the grave stones and waits for his opprotuntiy.

He begins to question himself, why am I doing this? His never questioned himself before and always saw himself as a confident person, but this, to possiblity sacrafice yourself was never his plan but he could not sit ideally by and watch war waged on the world if he can help it.

He takes one last deep breath and runs into the middle of the ceremony, grabs one of the skulls and begins to recite a binding incantation he had learned but never had the chance to use.

His incantation begins to work but the powers of Arlitar are too much to hold back, he continues to recite the spell calling on his inner strength and unbending will to push through the excurationg pain he has to endure.

Zintar is quickly being robbed of strength and in a final atempt to seal Alitar he binds the skull with himself in order to stop the ressurection.

The skull explodes and all in the grave yard is tossed asside from the enegyr release. When the dust settles all dark spell casters see a glowing green light being emited from the shadows.

Out steps Zintar Mortalis, he had absorbed the powers Alitar and through his unbending will he had managed to control it.

The lone wolf restores balance and order

Zintar now commands servility over dark art spell casters and orders a truce with the light slinters immediately. He also sends out scouts to find a area to set up a camp to welcome all dark magicians and to introduce him as their new leader.

Short version

A self exiled spell caster Zintar disturbs the ritual to resseruact the dark lord to become the leader of the death splinter & restore balance to the world of magic
